Question about Philips Magnavox 15MF400T 15 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

IR reciever in my Magnavox 15MF400T/37 does not respond to the remote.

I tried a new remote but with no luck.
Fresh batteries in both.
Unplugged the TV from 110v power for 30 minutes.
The set works fine with the bottom buttoms.

Is the IR Receiver bad
How can I remove the cover to get at the internals?

Thanks for your help.

You basically have to take the tv apart backward to get to the front. Start with the back panel unscrew all the screws. Then you will see the internals. IR sensor should be botton left side if you looking down on it.

TV responds to on-off, channel & volume changing buttons, but nothing else on remote. Screen is dark, but the station and show listing appear at bottom. Sound of show works, but no picture.

The remote has stopped working so the only way I can change channels is on the actual tv

Easy way to test an infrared remote is to point your camera at it and then push a button on the remote and look for the purple color on the camera, If you don't see the color AND the batteries in the remote are new AND installed correctly, it is time for a new remote.
