I think there is a hardware/software conflict. Try running a registry cleaner in safe mode first.

Acer Aspire 6920 Restarts in Normal mode and works only in safe mode

Sounds like the MBR ( boot files) are corrupted. Try formatting the hdd before you instal again. I'm sure you have a restore sector on the hdd in which case, if you have done anything to that then you'll need to have the restore disc set which usually comprises of the restore disc and the drivers disc. Either way....just make sure you format c and not d which is usually the resore partition. Good luck

Touchpad

Have you tried both areas to double click (the middle of the touchpad and the left touchpad button)? Check your mouse properties and make sure the right click is not the one you should be hitting. Maybe the left and right got switched somehow. Go into the touchpad properties and set everything back to default.

Boot the system in Safe Mode and see if you have the same problem.

Maybe your keyboard has been hijacked so run a virus scan.

Maybe your keyboard cable is loose or the keyboard is going bad. You'll have to remove the keyboard to get to the cable.

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. On my acer 5742-7645 my touchpad has stoped working?

Hi,

Just check for the key combination on your keyboard (ex. Fn + F4 or F5..depends on the what key was designed for the touchpad), the touchpad might be locked.

If it is not locked, reinstall the touchpad driver, but it this still doesn't work, boot to Safe Mode to check if it does. Touch pad still not responding in Safe Mode would mean hardware failure.

Hope this helps.

Unit boots up to Welcome center but once there I can't use the keyboard or mouse. I tried using an external keyboard and mouse but still nothing.

try to boot in safe mode. press F8 several times before bootup, then select safe mode. better yet safemode with networking. and did you try hooking external kb and mouse thru usb? if it proceeds, try checking online for chipset drivers and touchpad drivers at http://support.acer.com/us/en/drivers_download.aspx

Locked keyboard and mousepad on acer aspire 6920G

Almost same problem: the mouse froze.

Found a nice solution at another website: switch off the pc, unplug the power supply cable AND remove battery. Press "on" switch for 20 seconds. Now re-install battery, plug back power supply cable, and switch on. Worked for me (what exactly worked for me I don't know but hey)

Good luck.
