The subsidy code is needed to unlock the phone from the set network and allow usage on other carriers. To obtain this code you can either contact ATT and try and talk them into getting it, search for a program capable of determining the subsidy code, or run an internet search on subsidy code services. If you do end up going through a company to get the code be aware that there is a price of usually 10-40 dollars U.S.

How to use a sim subsidy code

With a new SIM card many users receive the message "enter subsidy password". This message indicates that the phone is locked to the current provider, and cannot be used with a new cell network. Obtain a Subsidy Password, also know as an IMEI unlock code. The Motorola subsidy password is an 8 or 16 digit code that unlocks your phone (Remove service provider lock) for use with other cellular providers. Search Google for Motorola Unlock Codes for a list of retailers. Codes are usually provided within 24 to 48 hours, and cost around $10 to $25 (Price will vary depending on Code seller).
Enter the subisdy code into the phone. To enter the IMEI code into the phone, all you need to do is insert a SIM card from a different network to the one that your phone is locked to. This will prompt the phone to display "Enter subsidy password". Just enter the 8 or 16 digit code, and your Motorola phone is unlocked.

I want to get my subsidy password for motorola c114.when i am inserting new sim it is asking for the subsidy password.so,i want to unlock my phone

HI

A restriction code is numeric code (password) that prevents a user from accessing certain technical settings of a phone. It is specifically designed to prevent a phone from being reprogrammed to work with a different carrier (service provider).

This is what is usually meant when a phone is referred to as "locked". There are also "unlocked" phones that can be reprogrammed to work with a different carrier.

The reason for this system is the way phones are often sold. Many phones are sold below cost, (at a loss to the carrier,) with the expectation that the money will be recouped in the cost of the monthly service plan. The up-front loss that is later recouped is called a Subsidy.

For this to work financially for the carrier, the user must not buy the phone and then use it with a different carrier. The MSL makes that nearly impossible.

Unlocked phones are ususally much more expensive than locked phones, because there is no subsidy to offset the cost.

You should ask the operator for the restriction code

How to contact service provider?

The subsidy lock is only given by your phone company provider therefore if you don't enter it correctly it locks the phone. This code is given by motorola only to the cell phone companies so if for example you have a tmobile sim you would call tmobile and tell them that your phone is asking for the subsidy lock code.

Subsidy password?

This phone must be made for use on T-Mobile or Cingular/AT&T? Cell phone companies don't want you using their phones with other carriers if you decide to switch. They figure this will keep you from switching. A t-mobile phone will only work with a t-mobile sim card. Same with Cingular. When you put in a sim chip from another carrier, the phone wants a password so you can use it. But you have to get the password from the carrier that sold the phone to use another carrier. There are ways to get this code if you want it.

Asks for subsidy password

Subsidy password refers to the service provider. Your phone is locked to one network and you have a different network providers SIM card inserted. The device needs to be unlocked to remove this error. Best of Luck.
