let me know first if what model do you asking for since your problem is the TCL tv but their is a samsung projection model posted, so that i can give you a better solution. any way if you asking for a tcl projection type tv since the problem is that the picture goes black, lets verify first to narrow down where the problem it can be. unplugged the tv unit then you need to open the back cover of the tv to access the internal part. now turn on your tv then look for the cooling fan for the lamp if it was working if not the lamp will turn off then you will not get picture. feel free to seek further assistance hope this will help thanks for consulting through fixya.

ok thanks, here is how are you going to do, if totally black screen you need to check the inverter ballast for the back light, check for component failure here replace if needed.
the screen back light is mounted at the top and bottom part of the lcd panel, to access the back light you need to remove the metal cover shield and the connector wire from the inverter ballast. you just check first the inverter ballast, through voltage checking it needs a INV_ON voltage around 3.3v, if the voltage is not present then the ballast will not turn on then it will result to screen back light off, possible cause bad processor circuit.
