Solution NO I need a Remote that will let me use this thing. I can play it,but without the remote you can't adjust the Surround sound Speakers. Can't adjust anything really. If you push the wrong button on the unit itself It will go into mute mode then have to wait until it decides to play again. PLEASE somebody out there must have some idea on where to get one(remote) or replacement. As for the Company that made this system DONT even go there. They just don't care Really I will never bye anything from that Company again. What kind of Company dose not back there Product. That's why there on the Bottom as far as Electronics go. Thanks any Help on this will be appreciated.

Your One for All Universal remote has a "code search" feature you can use to find a code that will work. If you make a thorough search without finding a code, you may have to try another universal remote.
I have found that most DVD/VCR combos operate on their own frequency bands and TV remotes and alot of the universal remotes will not code to these, try the original remote that came with your combo unit to operate the other units that you want to control. Good luck !
That's an old unit!!!! Reboot is what happens when you shut the computer down and then turn it back on. This is not exactly a computer but it does have a processor and it does require the same treatment. You'll probably have to pull the plug too, for a minute or so.
If this doesn't help, you probably have a broken tray mechanism, either mechanical or electronic failure and repair is iffy and probably not worth the money.
Protect mode will kick in whenever a fault is detected.
You get the unit not powering up, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that is the protection switch that keeps shutting down the unit.
Causes that can start protect mode are:
Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.
Bad speaker wiring. Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.
Internal fault. Internal
fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not
work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In
this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an
experienced person. If the unit is less than one year old, or if you
want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the
As long as the colored connections are in the correct holes (red with red and so on) then you should have sound if not then the built in amplifier is shot, it is probably better if you get a new system or contact Magnavox for a exchange price on out of warranty units which they have
