Blinking Red Power Light

While tv was on we experienced a brief power outage, lights in livingroom only flickered. 30 Min. later lost picture but still had sound 2 Min. later unit shut down power light began flashing red. Only way to turn on set at this point is holdind down volume- and input and then switch on power strip, does same thing no picture but still has sound shuts down 2 min. later power light begins flashing red. I did take a look at inverter screws but they are tight, I also used a flashlight while unit was on and could see video image so lcd screen is good just no backlights?

You can also try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables from TV. Wait about 30 minutes and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the TV and see if it works..Try to plug different power source if this fails ,then you give it service center to get it fixed or you like DIY then :
I would recommend going to the following link and getting the service manual so you can see first hand disassembly instructions and testing proceedures. Its only 10.99 and they email it to you shortly after purchase. The manual is a valuable resource as it will have part numbers in case you do need a new board. heres the link.

Hi,

The blinking LED indicates that the built-in protection has been activated. However it would appear not to be a major fault, otherwise, the sound would also be gone as well as the dim video. Initially would suggest:

  • unplug from the mains for at least an hour (to dissipate power inside);
  • press the RESET button at the rear of the unit below the RS232C terminal;
  • press the SYSTEM RESET in the same area.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

BTW, Thanks jaznet for pointing my previous posting as a possible solution to this problem.

    I believe it is an inverter problem. You said the tv does turn on normally as well correct?

    Thanks,
    lee

    Usually it is inverter that is the culprit. Though I recommend having it diagnosed in person by a qualified professional. You also most likely can get an estimate from sharp.

Samsung ln22a450 red light indicator blinking 5 times also sound like initial screen but no picture no audio after that. 10 min later the tv it shut off by it self

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

I have fixed two capacitator and I still keep on experiencing the red blinking light I was told it could be the main power supply box how can I fix this

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.
