Hi, I am seaman and shortly today I am in New Orleans.Need help for my new Toshiba NB 505,when I try to switch him on got on screen,after minute, "Media test failure,check cable" and on the end "operation system not found".Please I need imidiately help.Tanks

Sounds like the computer can't detect the hard drive, which means it is most likely bad. If it's a new computer I'd swap it out or return it.

Button do I push on my Toshiba NB 505 to hook up to an external monitor

Normally fn as in function and f4 - or If not I'm close look for the button with a picture of 2 monitors on it on the keyboard it's normally fn and that key or shift and that key pressed at same time. 3 modes computer screen only, computer screen and aux or just aux. hope that helps.

I just purchased a toshiba mini notebook NB 505 it has about 5 hrs. of time on it. Went to turn it on the other night and when it starts up the screen was lite up but nothing else. I can not shut down...

It happens when the NB was not properly shutdown, NB was turned off due to battery drained and left idle or worst there is a problem with the mother board. You may try this; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, and power ON the NB. If the laptop will not boot by doing this, take it back from the reseller for replacement.
