Question about TV Receivers & DVRs

1 Answer

Wharfedale DTR i have bought a Wharfedale TU160DTR and for some reason when i do a channel scan to set it up it says ''scan failed'' and i only have about 15 channels? its not a reception problem because my other box (i bought this new one because i wanted a card slot) works perfectly receiving all channels. i have a setanta card and am supposed to leave it on channel 5 or channel 34(setanta) to activate my card, but i cant get those channels? i have tried everything, turning it off, resetting, unplugging the aeriel lead etc. i even changed the box as i thought it may be faulty, but that does the same thing?? please help!!!!!! thanks

I've just bought the same dtr myself, and it had no problems scanning the channels, the other solution is to register a topuptv card that you had supplied with the box, put it in the box with the pin side facing up on channel 5 for an hour, take the card out then re-insert it the same way then after upto four hours setanta should appear, aswell as the other channels, they work perfectly on mine, much better than the thomson ones ever did, le us know how you get on with it

Bought a tvonics freeview dtr-hv250 digital tv recorder, keeps coming up but it wont allow me to record. keeps saying the hard drive is unformatted. done what it says on the on screen instructions but

Go to your on screen menu under dtr settings and format the hard drive. If you have been recording the hard drive may be full and some programs need to be deleted to allow more recording space. You may also unplug the unit for several minutes and use the reset box option.

The recorder won't respond to the remote and I can't change channels or access anything with remote. Mislaid the instructions which give details to fix this. Wharfedale TU160DTR Here's hoping someone can...

Try this. Open up your pc cam then point the remote straight at the cam. You should see pulsating light on the computer screen as you look at the cams video. This tells you ar least that the remote is working fine.

Retuning Philips DTR 1500 digibox

Had same problem. Remedy is to put digibox back to factory reset. Dis-connect from mains. Keep pressing + button on front panel as you re-connect to mains. Red LED will be on, when orange LED blinks release + button. briefly press + button. You have solid red LED and blinking red LED. Enter code 9 9 0 0, by remote blinking LED will show green. Wait a few minutes and the instalation page will appear on screen. Go to update and start as you did before and C5 should be installed. Hope that helps.

My thomson dti 6300 250gb free view box wont turn on

Emailed Topuptv and got this reply

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Top Up TV.

Please note that we are currently aware of an issue affecting some Thomson DTi6300 boxes.

If your DTR will not come out of standby and is not responding to your remote control, please try the following procedures.

Step 1: Power cycle
First of all, remove the power to the box and wait 20 seconds before restoring power.
Wait while the box tries to restart and allow 2 -3 minutes for this to complete.
Try this at least twice.
If it doesn't go to the solid green light then proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Front Panel Reset

Note: This procedure will unfortunately cause you to lose all of the recordings that you have stored on the box. You will need to be able access the back of the DTR and the front panel buttons

1. Remove power to the unit by removing the power cable from the back of the DTR.
2. Wait 20 seconds and restore the power cable while holding in the standby/power on button on the front panel of the DTR.
3. Release the standby button immediately you see a light 'blip' on the DTR front display and then immediately press the following front panel arrow buttons in sequence Up>Down>Left>Right
4.The DTR will now show the Orange LED with the Green LED flashing until the format has been completed in about 60 seconds. The DTR will return to ON automatically.
5. If requested, perform a channel scan to complete the operation.

Just installed new tvonics250 freeview + box

Hi,

I have one of these boxes and one of the things which has caught me out a couple of times is that the remote can control three devices. To turn the Z250 on and off you may need to press the DTR button at the top of the remote first. When you press the on/off button on the remote the DTR button should light up red to let you know the signal is being sent to the Z250.

You are probably aware of this but just in case you weren't
