While trying to install Profession Sew-Ware on Windows Vista 32 bit the program goes to 100 percent and just hangs up. If I close it all out and goto the PSW folder I can execute the program but I get a CPORTIO.Drv error. Everything works fine on Windows XP so I know my software and hardware are working fine.

The software and indeed the xl-6000 will not work with a 64bit system.I had the same problem.I bought a used laptop 32bit and windows xp and it works perfectly. You can get a serial/usb adapter to use with newer pc that doesn't have serial port, but you still need 32bit system.

I too am having PSW 1.1 problems and tried the "COMPATABILITY MODE" solution and it did not work. 1.0 works but not when 1.1 is installed.

can you kindly let me know the version of the current driver which you are using. This problem which you are presently facing is caused due to memory error on your sewing machine. Kindly take a vaccum cleaner and blow your sewing machine off the accumalated dust. Further, You need to install the software for the USB to serial port adapter, and then plug the adapter in
and then install the software for the machine. If you don't follow the procedure you will get the error.

Singer.com's FAQs provide the following:

Q. My computer only has USB ports. Can you recommend a Serial (nine pin) to USB converter cable that will work with the Professional Sew Ware™ 2.00a? A. We have found that the PSW works best on newer computers when the USB serial adapter cable has not only compatible drivers for the Windows operating system but also a FTDI chip. We have found this FTDI chip in the cable which is listed below:
CUSB-232A available from Computerplug.com and Cablesalesusa.com.
Any USB to serial adapter with an FTDI chip will work. These cables will work for Windows XP, VISTA, and 7.

Most new PCs don't have one but you can add one for cheap. Look for a USB 2.0 External CD-ROM, portable for laptop on Amazon. Bestbuy should have them as well.

Can not down my singer psw sew ware to window vista

Hi,

Not sure if it will help, but you may need to download a patch for this to work, but perhaps you could try this webpage http://www.psw-support.com/Downloads/downloads.htm or you could try this one www.jennys-sewing-studio.com they are also very helpful at times, or perhaps you might consider joining this group TeamSewAmused-subscribe@yahoogroups.com they are very helpful.

I bought a XL6000 from a friend and it came with Sew-Ware Conversion Tool software. I'm trying to load onto my laptop which has Windows Vista. I can't get it to come up. Do I have old software?

To either transfer/transmit from a computer to the XL6000 or for the XL6000 to recognize/read a design card: The Embroidery attachment must be attached/installed on the XL6000.
Additional information can be found at the Singer Co support site:

I found the FAQ section very helpful. (I printed it out for future reference.)

Professional Sew-Ware 1.0 and 1.10

The problem is either compatibility; try right clicking on the icon and selecting Properties and then Compatibility tab. Click on run this program in compatibility mode for: and try the different options. by selecting, clicking ok and trying to run the program and if it does not work then select the next one. Or it could be a failed install either your ant virus picked up something and corrupted the install or the computer must have been running a lot of programs at the same time. These kinds of problems are usually solved by switching off any constantly running programs such as antiques, firewalls etc until the program has been installed and then enabling them when installed.
