Question about Eton E100 SW/FM/AM Radio

Open Question

Actually, this is about an Eton E1 SW/AM/FM Radio, but that model was not on the selection list. Problem: Poor reception and popping on local AM stations using built-in antenna. Popping also occurs when adjusting antenna tilt in AM mode. Did not sound this way when purchased in December. FM is OK. Could not tell if SW is affected. Do not have external antenna. I always use the A/C adapter. When problem occurred I tried to use it on batteries, but reception was much weaker. Note: I always touch another metal object to eliminate static electricity before using radio, so this is not the issue.

Sorry, but your radio does not have that feature, which is known as S.A.M.E. When set on ALERT your radio will receive all alert messages broadcast by the NOAA station that you are tuned to. The only fix, unfortunately, is to purchase a set that has the S.A.M.E. feature.

SOURCE: I've lost the operating manual for my Eton FR-300 emergency radio

Your radio does not offer the S.A.M.E. capability that would let you receive alerts for just your specific area, but it will let you receive all alerts broadcast by the NOAA station that your radio is tuned to. Here is a link to the owners manual where you can find more details:

SOURCE: my antenna broke, i purchased new antenna but when

On the back panel, there is a black decal located near the center. Warm this decal with a hair dryer (warm it, don't get it hot)Slip a knife blade under the right side and lift it up. Remove the hidden screw under the decal, and the the other five and the back will come off. replace the FM antenna and you are good to go. I had the same problem. mcarmich

SOURCE: resetting an eton fr-360 weather

I had the same problem so I sent an email to Eton's customer service, this was their response and it worked for me:
Please use the following procedure to reset it. Please remove your AAA batteries and unplug the rechargeable battery. Let the radio sit for 30 to 45 minutes, then put them back in. To play it from the AAAs press and release BATT first, then POWER. To play if from the rechargeable, first press DYN/SOL, then turn the crank for 90 seconds, then press and release POWER.

To charge the unit with an AC adapter, plug in the AC adapter, press the DYN/SOL button and make sure that it reads SOL/DYN in the lower right corner of the display. Let it charge for about 8 hours. Make sure that it still says SOL/DYN and press the POWER button. It should play for about 5 to 6 hours, depending on the volume.

Slightly off frequency is it possible to correct

I assume it is digital tuning?
If it is digital tuning the answer is no.
Sometimes reception is better when you purposely mis-tune by one digit lower or higher than the stations call numbers.
If it is under warranty, try exchanging it or just listen to and compare another one or more of the same model to hear if they are all slightly off frequency.

How do set default AM & FM stations? Every time I turn on the radio I have select the station I want.

When you turn on the radio or select a wave band the display shows the last frequency you tuned in. That gives you 3 frequencies: One for the AM nd, one for the FM band (and maybe 3 for SW.
That does not look like much but there is nothing you can do about it. Sorry. It does not have Autamatic Tuning System, nor memory locations to store favorites stations. The portable Grundig/Eton such as the G5, G3, G8 have a plethora of memory locations and ATS.

I just got grunding 800 radio,no reception either am,fm ,sw please help me.

This is valid for the Satellit 750 by Eton (current owner of Grundig)
When you use it the first time you go through a system code setting to fix the memory page configuration, the AM gap between stations, the type of batteries and FM frequency range.
If it is used in North Ameraica, you are told not to go through procedure but do it any way.
SYSTEM Code setting
Turn Radio off and press a quick short press on the ENTER Button. -- appears on the upper right corner of the display
1. The first code could be 00, 20,25 or 50, meaning the memory is divided into 10, 20, 25, or 50 pages.
2. The second code fixes the AM frequency gap between stations. Enter 09 for 9kHz or 10 for 10 kHz (in North America)
The 3rd code selects the type of batteries used 29 for D size batteries (1.5V each) or 28 for rechargeable batteries (1.2 V each)

The 4th code concerns the FM frequency range: 76 for a range 76-108 MHz (for Japan) or 87 for a range 87-108 MHz

Read your manual to see how the procedure is performed, or try this one valid for the Satellit 750. It might work. Go through all the procedure and press ENTER to confirm system code.

Can't pick up any stations

Some Grundig models have a history of poor front end design where just a bit of static electricity will wipe out tuning. Serious flaw.

No am reception and poor fm reception - 2004 Kia Sedona

If the antenna is on the front, pop the hood, and locate where the antenna wire connects to the bottom of the antenna and make sure it is connected well. If everything checks out there, you will have to pull the radio from the dash, and look at the back of it. There will be a large black wire by itself connected to the radio. Push it in to make sure its connected as well. That could really be your only problem unless your radio happens to have a fault on the inside which is extremely rare. Hope that helps

Hi there!

This is a problem caused by the Airport's securuty systems.

They have damaged your equipment. If you were not warned of the risk and given a chance to avoid being scanned, then you should be entitled to some compensation for the damage.

Contact the airport customewr services. They should be able to advise you from there.
I hope you get some compensation for it.
