Question about EPoX EP-8K9A Motherboard

1 Answer

YAY!! Online now on the new machine... that driver didn't work for some reason but I put the motherboard CD in the machine and it installed some drivers and now It's recognised the ethernet port! Sorted out the hard drive bit too but the unallocated space is put into another partition... anyway to put them into the same partition? and why the hell did it split it in half by default??! Anyways... now the problem is that it doesn't have sound... "no sound device"... is it another driver problem? think there should be onboard sound surely?!

When I loaded the CD on ( the motherboard CD) there didn't seem to be a sound card driver on there... I'll have another look but pretty sure there isn't for some reason... god... why do they have to make things so complicated??! Driver for this, driver for that?!

Being on two partitions isn't too much of a problem but will give it a try anyways... Thanks

The sound driver should be on the motherboard CD aswell if it's onboard sound. Go to the Device Manager, and have it look on the CD for the driver (or alternatively, launch the installation for it directly from the CD itself). As far as the space is concerned, you can use the gParted Live CD to merge the partitions into a single partition, or the trial version of Partition Magic; http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ http://www.symantec.com/norton/partitionmagic

How do i upgrade my PNY-NVidia gt-6200 Agp GForce 256Mb 3D card

First of all, you have to get a card that is an AGP. These are still out the, search online, that is your best option. Once you order a new card, it's simple, pull out the old video card, carefully. And then once the card is removed, you can carefully put your new one in.

Once you have the card installed physically, you will need to install the drivers for it, when you are in windows. If you card didn't come with a drivers cd, you can go to the manufactors website and find your particular card, download the driver. After its finished downloading, choose to install it, and then follow the instructions provided my the installation.

My motherboard for my laptap MX6025 was damage, now I am replacing them for a new one and would order via online. How do I install this to my windows xp, what requirements do i need such as drivers,...

If your hard drive is still working fine, you shouldn't need to reinstall Windows again. Most of the time your PC will perform as it did before your motherboard died by simply reinstalling the original hard drive.
If not then do this.
Reinstall windows with your restore CD, and with most gateway laptops you should have a drivers and applications CD that restores your motherboard drivers and applications to their original locations.

If you lost your drivers CD, you can download them all here.

http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn&param=5376

When asked, you should allow XP updates so that Service Pack 3 can install. This will add a few windows based drivers to your laptop that may be necessary for better video, audio and wireless performance.

Your restore CD may not ask for your CD Key, this is typical for a Vendors original restoration, but if for some reason it does, the number on the back of your laptop will work. Mine validated just fine.

We install windows xp prodesional on this motherboard, but it shows absence of audio driver. what is the reason?

If you got new motherboard you should have got new driver of driver which is the need of your motherboard.
Install your driver inside the CD-ROM or DVD-RW to run your disc on computer.
Add your driver by following the instructions of the installation process.
If you have not the same driver then find it by right clicking on the my computer>device manager
And then find your audio driver.

I have en e machine T3025 for some reason the CD and DVDs don't work. I seem to have the drivers, but it says the hardware can't be found. What the heck happened and how do I fix it? Help! Greg

In most cases like this, you can try to un-install the device and then reboot the machine. Let windows find the new device and install the drivers for it and see if that corrects the problem. Control panel > system > hardware > device manager > go to the devive, right click on it and choose uninstall. DO NOT UNINSTALL THE DRIVERS....just the hardware. Now, reboot the machine and let windows do the rest. If it asks to search online for the best driver, click yes.
