Question about Curtis CD094 Personal CD Player
I have the above personal disc player.
It turns on no problems, I put a disc in and press play and the disc spins
but no sound and the display shows 2 underscore lines. Then er shows
on the screen.
When I open and remove the disc, the laser eye is as close to the middle
of the player as it can possibly go. I tried moving it by hand back to the
beginning and it does move but when I repeat the start up and remove the
disc again, its back at the opposite end again.
Is there a reset button somewhere inside? Or is this a hopeless situation?
Please let me know and thanks for your time.
I had a similar problem on one of my cd players. I traced the fault to the tiny wires that connect the electronics in the base to the buttons and screen on the top. There is a small ribbon cable that bends every time the lid is opened and over time this can severe the very small wires there. Check that first, but also clean the CD read head with a CD disc cleaner.

I think you are going to have to connect the Player up to your PC via it's USB cable and then possibly repartition and reformat.. Do you have the, any? software that came with ya player installed on ya PC? If so often all "Utilities" to do this are included. Here is a link to the Curtis web troubleshooting I am sure ya will find help there too. http://www.curtisint.com/support/troubleShooting.asp

SOURCE: movie does not play
Try playing Different DVDs, Second Make sure which Region Disk your playing is it Region 1 or Region 2, If your DVD player is Manufactured in USA it plays only Region 1, If its manufactured in UK it plays only Region 2, If still you face same problem Use Lens Cleaner, If still you face same problem do Reset.
To Reset Dvd player, Remove DVD from Dvd Player, Unplug Power chord from Walloulet for 15minutes so player goes to Defult Factor Settings, Then plug back again Power chord. Turn on Dvd player insert DVD, It should Play or else Claim Warranty.

I believe I have the solution....but it depends on your dvd player's zuxilarily capabilities. Do you have a second set of OUTPUT plugs that are colored Red and White on the back of the TV? Do you have a separate Red and White INPUT plugs on the back of the dvd? The TV must use the speakers in the DVD system by pushing the sound OUT. You cannot accomplish this if the dvd is only pluged into the INPUT of the tv.
\Another option is o make sure your DVD player has a "auxilary" or separate input channel on the console or remote.
I have a DVD home theatre system as well, not the same brand, but that shouldn't make a difference . Its a matter of how the sound is received.
Hope that helped.

SOURCE: Curtis DVD8007C says "No disc"
never heard of powered up on caps. But first try using and IRIS cleaner to remove dirt and dust from the laser eye. The disk has a brush embedded in it and is just run like a normal disk. It sweeps the dirt fromm the eye and then SHOULD be able to see it really does have a disk.

Tips for a great answer:

Please try to put in an ordinary audio CD track and see if this is detected. If yes the optical is working, if not there is no laser scanning and the possibility of the head being faulty is high.
Certain cleaner disks may not work but the best is to cleaning manually the laser head eye with a cotton bud, very gently and without pressing of the lens eye.
If there is still no result then watch the CD if it spins or tries to spin. If the head unit moves up or down to focus or in and out of the drive, if so the board seems to work correctly and the possibility that the optical head unit is the suspected fault.
