Two memory places?

Sometimes when I go to download to computer one set of pictures that I thought was lost comes up?  that's good, but then I can't find the new pictures.  It's like there are two different memory cards, but I know that's not the case.

It worked. Yes, when I removed the card there were the other pictures.
Now I'm wondering is there a way to tell where my pictures are going?

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

COOLPIX S200

See page 18:

two memory places? - 5c6ebc5.jpg

So I guess what is happening is that sometimes you see the internal memory & other times the memory card. To prove this remove the card & see if you have your "old" photos. It may be that the contacts on your memory card are dirty & so sometimes the card is not being detected.

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

Copy from pc to camera

The software that comes with almost every camera, is used to make backups from the pictures on your camera. The backup device is thought to be a computer. So this software only allowed to move the pictures from the camera to the computer. lots of camera users don't even realise the have to install special software, to transfer the pictures from camera to computer.
Keeping all you computers only on one memory card in a camera is very dangerous, because there are lost of possibilities to lose all your pictures. But if you insist to put back pictures on the memory card, you should use a memory card reader connected to the computer. and copy the pictures from the computer to the memory card.
Don't try to copy pictures, made on other camera's, to the memory card that you us in your camera. Not all files are compatible, even not when they have the same name. So it could be, you have pictures from an other camera on your memory card and still you won't be able to view them on your camera display.

I was taking pictures outside on a cold day and the camera froze - after warming it up I was able to take more pictures but I thought I lost all the previous ones. I subsequently took about 50 pictures and...

Could be a problem with the "no. reset" in the menu. I would go into the menu and find the regular "reset" and follow the on-screen instructions to get your camera back to factory settings. Then, format your card in the camera.

'File error' message on samsung L200 camera when viewing a photo

Possible solution:

I had/have the same problem using L200 and SDHC memory card, called Samsung. Can't view certain pictures on camera or computer, camera freezes when viewing those certain pictures, green light flashing.

Samsung support told me that I needed to copy my (good) pictures to a computer first because a memory format will erase everything. Then format (menu->settings->format->yes) my memory card. Tried this just now and took some new pictures, so far so good.

Recovering pictures from memory card

Try photo recovery software to rescue the lost pictures, here are some you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.

Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the memory card(digital camera) in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

Lost pictures in transit from camera to computer

Sometimes there are other folders and the pictures can be hidden.
Also make sure to check internal memory with the card removed. Remove the memory card, turn on the camera and check if any of the pictures are on the internal memory.

Also, use a card reader for the computer instead of using the camera connected to the computer.
With a card reader you may be able to see the folders (if any) and retrieve your pictures.
Never delete any pictures or edit them from the computer to the camera. This can cause corruption and loss of pictures and files.

Always download (copy) them from the camera on to the computer.
