Question about Hotpoint WMA64 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Motor running drum not emptying

The cycle got part way through then the washer started 'grumbling'. The water won't drain and the cycle won't continue. The drum got fuller until it started to leak from the front door. I pressed 'stop' at which point about 2/3 of the water emptied. I am left with 1/3 of the water in the drum, if I try and switch it on to any cycle it starts to make a very unhealthy noise (although the motor sounds okay) and it fills to about 2/3 full with water and starts to leak again.

occasional noise during spin cycle, also jumps to end during wash cycle

  • snavetrauts Nov 29, 2008

I also have this although none of the water empties (unless I drop the waste hose to the ground and gravity does its thing) I have cleaned out the rubber waste assembly and the water pump is new (the old one was fine also.... but I thought that was the problem, so bought a new one).

The control board I assume is working as the signal to the pump works and the pumps starts operating... but no water is pumped.... you can hear it clearly rotating trying to pump out the water... it seems a valve or something needs to open??  Nothing moves on as the water does not empty??

    Can anyone help?

    Regards

Sounds like maybe a blocked pump.Probably got a coin or sock or some lint in the pump.Has your machine got a filter ? What happens when you position the program switch on a spin section and turn it on ? does it pump out the water ?

My kenmore elite calypso washer won't fill up enough to get clothes completely wet.

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Washer won't drain or run thru any cycles.

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Check this link to replace the inlet valve:

http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1408/how-to-replace-the-inlet-valve-on-a-washer-dr.html

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the dry spin with the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water from the clothes during the spin.

My washer won't spin on spin cycle

Hi rapwizz,

I believe your drain pump filter is just clogged. The drain pump is trying to pump the water out before the Spin cycle, but can't. Usually this is caused by a foreign object that is obstructing the impeller. See my tip on how to access, drain & clean the Drain Pump Filter:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER

After this, the Spin cycle will run, after the drainage procedure. If it does not, then you may need to replace the Drain Motor. Which is a easy task.

Kind Regards :-)

LG washing machine fail to spin at end of the cycle

This is almost certainly a simple problem with your empty pump filter being clogged. The empty cycle is timed and if it can't get all the water out in time because the filter is blocked and slowing the empty down, then it will fail safe and won't step on to the final spin cycle with excess water in the drum.
You need to locate and clean the filter. Depending on the model (not familiar which with the model you mention) there is probably a round filter cap on the front of the machine at the bottom (It may be behind a small door or hidden behind a clip on panel on the bottom) Many models of this design also have a small hose to the right of the filter cap that you can pull out, remove a plug from and drain off any water in the filter before you remove the filter and get your floor wet, so take a look for this before you remove the filter and get soaked.

The washer will not drain. It goes through all the cycles, fills with water, washes, but when it gets to any of the spin cycles, it stops. The hose going to the drain is NOT clogged.

Hi, I own a Whirlpool Thin Twin Model# LT5000XSN1. I bought it used from a CRAPPY dealer (worst mistake EVER), since day one, we have had an issue with the spin cycle. The cycle will agitate then when the...

This sounds like a classic clogged empty pump issue. The empty cycle is timed and then it steps on to the spin cycle. The machine won't spin if there is still water in the bottom of the drum. When you reset it to a spin cycle again, you are making it run through the empty cycle again, finally getting rid of the water that the clogged filter could not evacuate on the first attempt.

You need to clean the empty pump filter. Now... Where is the filter???? Hmmmm... not sure. It MAY be behind a little panel in the front of the machine near the bottom. I can't find a picture of the machine on the net so I'm not sure.

Clean the filter, I'll bet your problem goes away. You have to wonder why the idiot who sold the machine to you hasn't suggested this!

Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x
