Question about Motu 2408mk3 Sound Card
I am trying to do audio transfers from analog, DA-88 and midi all synched to smpte. Can the spdif inputs on the MOTU 2408 (mk1) be used as smpte in and out as they can be used on later versions of the 2408 audio interfaces? Does the time code need to be "chained" to additional 2408's or is receiving on one unit sufficient? I have a PCIX 424 card.
I have a MTP AV USB INTERFACE/SYNCHRO unit. Current routings: My smpte time code originates from an analog recorder going to the MTP AV, then out to the DA-88, then out to the O2R where it terminates.
Now (I think it should) smpte goes to MTP AV, out to the primary 2408, out of it to the DA-88 and finally out to the O2R necessary when using automated mixing.
Therefore the original question, Can I use the s/pdif in and out for smpte on the original 2408 audio interface unit.
And thank you

I have the same model. Mine is has never had any problems other than latency issues. BUT just now I have blinking led lights and it has no sound and does not even get recognition from my computer now. I dumbfounded cause its been in the same spot with never being dropped or bumped so I'm gonna take off the face and air clean it. Crackling I did have and as soon as I or sprayed air on the "open" pots it went away. This first generation in my belief should have some sort of recall or refund at a trade up value. I'm now a recording studio with no anolog to digital converters cause my FIRST GENERATION motu 828 is all fritzed out man. It's pain full. I swear when I go to their site they recognize your system and blast at your computer to make sure its all legal which in turn destroys your software and epuipment. Every time I've been to their site. I've had to reinstall all my softwar which I bought from them, re input my serial #'s and last site i went to was the Digi page and blam. anyway, I suggest to just open it up, spray the insides to clean it and pray. lol...

SOURCE: Using MOTU Midi Express XT.
Try to use the WCPCI's MIDI ports
To use WCPCI's MIDI ports, you must enable them in two places. First, go to the System tab of the WCPCI control panel, and set the Midi Mode to "2x2". Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.
To enable the WCPCI MIDI ports in Cakewalk, select "MIDI Devices" from the Options menu, and click to highlight the "WC/PCI 1" and "WC/PCI 2" ports for recording (input) and playback (output).
