IPhone 3G Software upgrade

At the risk of asking a hugely dumb question, does software updating my iphone 3g wipe all data from it. Or does it automatically backup and restore data the data. I only ask as i have some rather important info on mine. Please help if u can
Cheers

We have eight iPhones at our company and all are used by exec's. So we wanted to do the upgrade from 2.0.1 to 2.1 for them. One of the exec's had loaded about 14 GB's worth of applications, pictures, videos,... He has a complete backup of his phone on his computer. I plugged the phone into mine and began the upgrade process via iTunes and it asked if I wanted to backup the phone first. I said yes, but when the phone was upgraded all his apps and pictures and videos were gone. Did a restore from backup and the backup file didn't contain any of the lost data either. How do you get it to do a complete backup? It only asked whether I wanted a backup (y/n), not what do I want backed up. Must these upgrades be done only from the primary user's computer/iTunes account?

During the updating process itunes performs a complete backup of your phone and then puts everything back as it found it after updating the phone so dont worry

Of course the iphone has to be updated from the computer/itunes it is linked to... this is of course where all the applications you have on your phone are mirrored... when you do a sync between your phone and itunes (whenever it is plugged into your computer) information is passed both ways between itunes and the iphone.. any apps you have on your phone are copied to itunes and any apps you may have downloaded into itunes (rather than use your phone) are transfered and installed on to the phone. This way a permanent and total backup exists for the iphone

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!
