Re: Hood lights will not work everything else does...

We have had the same problem with this microwave and have changed the bulb but that did not work. Did you ever find out what it was and if so how it was fixed?

Re: Hood lights will not work everything else does...

The problem is a bad light socket or the door switch. If you know how to do a continuity check with the power cable unplugged then thats what needs to be checked. Unplug microwave.. Take a meter lead insert it into the socket to the light bulb Follow that wire to where it goes as it should go to one of the switches on the door assy. Now these switchs can be tricky so be carefull when you check them as whith the door open theres a terminal that says N.O. that means normally open as when the doors open. The other lead should say on the door switch N.C., that means normally closed so you now that if the wire coming from the light bulb goes to a switch point on the door says N.C. the it shoud read a short from the light bulb socket to both the common and the N.O. side of the switch. If it dosent then the switch is bad. Now on a rare accation the socket itself is bad but thats easy to look at and see if its all corroded and stuff. If this dosent help lets us know and we can assit ya more and by all means if you dont know what im talking about PLEASE dont attempt to trouble shoot this as it could cause bodily harm!! Good Luck

Sounds like a power source issue from under the hood.
Unplug or turn off all power and take a closer look in there,. alternatively - this may sound crazy, but are you certain both bulbs are working by testing in another fixture??

The range-top light blew and now replacement bulbs

My Whirlpool/Roper microwave/hood combo has the same problem. I replaced the bulb twice, checked the bulb and it works, but not in the microwave. I wrote to Whirlpool asking about the problem. Haven't heard from them yet.

The hood light blew and I replaced it. It worked

The cause could be anything from defective bulbs(least likely, to a bad bulb socket or vibration during operation. A voltage measurment at the bulb will tell you if it is getting too much.

Internal light does not come on

Relay RY1 on the control circuit board has probably failed.

It's the relay closest to connector CN1, the 7-pin connector.

Have you had trouble with the cooktop lights of hood vent exhaust fan recently?

Hood lights do not turn off...

The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This is far less than a replacement circuit board, assuming it's even available anymore.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on.

Yes, this is caused by not disconnecting the microwave from the power line when removing or installing a bulb or by the filaments shorting when the bulb blows. This is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $39.95.
