Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Why would a dishwasher filter split/break in a meile dishwasher that is not even 3 years old. i have been told that it is not under warranty and that i have to pay the $580 bill even though i feel that it must have been the dishwasher as the maintenance man said that it would have been nothing that i have done. i have had other less expensive dishwashers that lasted a long time. i am going to write to meile and see what they say. what do you think? should i persue this as i feel it was a fault in the dishwasher not with me. thank you very much for your advise. sharon

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

You have to contact Frigidaire and let them know that the unit is just 3yrs old however, the warranty is around 5yrs and if its even 3yrs they will replace the part without parts cost. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

What type of detergent should I use with a Meile dishwasher? So far I've been told only liquid and only powder. Can someone break the tie?

Hi ebbragg,

Stick to powder. It has a much better track record and has been used for years.

My Bosch is only a few months old and it won't drain the water. The filter is fine. It's a shea43p16uc60.

Your bosch washer should still be under warranty:

  • Limited warranty, entire appliance, parts and labor (1 year)
  • Limited warranty for non-electronic components; parts only (1st to 2nd year)
  • Limited warranty for control board (microprocessor); parts only (1st to 2nd year)
  • Limited warranty for motor or any component of the motor (1st year to 10th year)

Kenmore 13114 Start Button Fell Off After 3 months

Sears will definitely come fix that under the warranty. I was in that line of work for years, and we would come fix any problem on a machine under warranty.

Do you have a meile g892 dishwasher?

Yes,

a G892SC - for over 6 years now. It's so quiet that many a time I've opened the door to put something in it, only to discover it'd been running (rinsing, etc., not drying!) the whole time! Despite 3 years in the Army and lots of Rock concerts, I have no hearing loss ;-)

One year ago, the little orange plastic detergent lid latch broke. And considering how well-made the rest of the unit is, it was not as robust as the rest of the DW. I Emailed Miele, and they sent out a repairman who replaced the entire soap unit on the door for FREE, even though it was well out of warranty. You pay more, and you get more.

Hello rpmhmmjuju
Welcome to fixya.
Iam Huuum

You said, the motor on our Kenmore dishwasher keeps sticking. I can start it and it may do 3 or 4 loads then stick again.

First try to throw the breaker of for 5 minutes and then on and see if that resets the system.

But more than likely its a bad switch in the control panel
that is intermittently failing.
That is a tough call . You need to call service!

HOW old is the dishwasher?

Here is a report I read recently!
Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old dishwasher
It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a dishwasher.

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your dishwasher,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that dishwasher under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your dishwasher is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new dishwasher.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive dishwasher
seven or more years old .

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a dishwasher you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.

Candy cs 455m dishwasher

Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum at your service.

You said, Candy keeps blowing the fuse. It is not the main fuse in the house(was checked). I
You think it may be the heating element. You asked any advice?

I feel you have a short somewhere . and who knows where? How old is the appliance and what did it cost?

I've seen 3 or 4 people in the past 24 hours that replaced the heating element in the same candy 455 dishwasher and still had the problem.
They told me they felt they did not want to spend any more money ont his unit cause they said, it was an inexpensive model!
So my clients told me!
