HP Deskjet F380 won't print

Was previously working. Recently changed blank ink printer cartridge. Cables are connected. HP printer software is functional and pictures are still successfully scanned to the computer.

Testpage page attempts to print but only a few faint lines are visible when done.

When copying (both in black only or color) the printer draws a page and tries to print but only a few horizontal lines are visible when doen.

When computer prints document the printer draws a page and tries to print but only a few horizontal lines are visible when doen.

Ink levels ok. No change after trying to clean/align cartridges. Any advice?

Clean the print head for an HP F380

If the cartridges are new, make sure you removed the, (sometimes clear), tape that the manufacturer places over the shinny metallic ink distribution slots, (shinny objects on the underside of the cartridges, like the previous answers have described). Otherwise, make sure the cartridges are the correct model for your printer, and I use a dab of alcohol on my q-tips to clean off old dried ink from the contacts. The contacts are very obvious once the cartridges are removed. Make sure to unplug the printer once you have removed the cartridges to access the contacts, before cleaning. And be gentle with the contacts, rub gently. And clean the cartridge contacts and ink dispensing slots as well, and gently as well. As previously mentioned, you should get ink on the q-tip when cleaning the ink distribution slots. Three colors, yellow blue and red from the color cartridge and black from the black cartridge. So clean the contacts first, then do the ink dispensers last to avoid adding ink to the contacts with a ink soggy q-tip. Good luck and be gentle.

My HP Deskjet F380 will only print blank pages. There is plenty of ink left in both cartridges. I've been on the HP help site. It didn't help. It won't photocopy either. It printed the top part...

the body of text of the test page is black ink. From what you describe, the print heads are clogged. Most HPs use cartridges that have the head built in, but if not used for an externded period they can dry up and clog.
Try repeated head cleanings (10 or more) see if any change. If none, try new HP ink cartridges

Where do i install black ink cartridge?

Open the print cartridge door allowing the print carriage to move to the far right side of the unit. Once the print carriage has stopped, lightly press down on a print cartridge to release it. Pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot

Deskjet F380 is normaly printing but it will print blank

If the printer is printing blank pages, make sure you are using the correct printer driver and make sure the paper size is correctly selected in the driver. If the printer is printing black only, the Ink option in the printer driver may be set to Black instead of Color or a setting in the software may be set to print black only. Also, the print head nozzles may be clogged. From the Utility section found in the printer driver, clean the print heads by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Performing up to 6 cleaning cycles is not uncommon if the print heads are severly clogged.

I have a HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One. Error light keeps flashing.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

F380 deskjet - error - refuses to pront

I have this printer with the same problem , worked fine for 1 year, printed over 1600 pages total ( according to the built in HP program that records how many pages I printed and how many times I used the printer) then it stopped printing. The ink cartridges are new, the software is fine, and it says ink levels are good. It physically goes through the motions of printing, loads the paper, makes all the normal sounds it used to and pushes out the paper when it's done - but the page is blank. I did some surfing and read some info that some HP printers are pre-programmed to stop certain functions so you buy a new printer. I know that might sound crazy. How long have you had the printer and how many pages do you think you printed?
