Question about Panasonic NN-S541 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Microwave Problems Panasonic NN-S541 .... comes on, runs for about 3-4 seconds and then shuts off. Doesn't matter what cycle I choose, I get same results. I do hear some "strange" noises (clicking??) coming from the right-side middle to rear of the oven the short time it's running. Also, I get a VERY faint odor akin to electrical smell. It is so very faint as to make me wonder if I'm imagining ... it's that miniscule. I only paid $100 for it new, so I'm not wanting to take it to a repair shop ... thought there might be something I can handle. If not, I'll buy a new one. Thanks!

Thats exactly why so so many repair shops have closed their doors mOH NO not because of you!!!lol its because of items are made to last a year or so and they are so inexpernsive theythrow them away and simply buys a new one cause for 100 bucks who can blame ya. your problem should be looked at by a pro unless you know how to deal with electricity and charged capacitors. it will run between 15 to 45 to check out the unit and probably cost about 50 to 100 bucks if not more to fix see my point? Buy A new one. Good Luck .

I have a Panasonic microwave convection that runs for 2 or 3 seconds, then cuts off. It doesn't matter what setting or length of time you program into it, it will run a couple of seconds and shut down. Is...

See if this describes what's happening:
  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://207.234.249.73/mwd/safety.txt , http://207.234.249.73/mwd/disassembly.txt and http://207.234.249.73/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

That may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Child sign in window of microwave ,cant start it panasonic

On my NN-L738BA there is a Child Lock feature.
You set the child lock by pressing the Start button 3 times.
If the Child Lock is enabled it displays the word :CHILD".

To disable this feature on my microwave the manual says to
press the Stop/Reset 3 times.

Check your manual for the Child Lock.

Shuts off but everything else works

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Microwave Problems

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

It may be as simple as a door switch, but it's usually a problem with your inverter, magnetron, or digital programming circuit.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on the high voltage section.

If you were to opt for service, I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.

Microwave Problems

Panasonic NN SD696S (SS) popout knob style (Costco): Clicked off; first occasionally, then frequently, then always after couple seconds (click from relay on circuit board behind keyboard). Checked fuse solution--too sad--not the problem. Checked Fan and various areas with VOM; then noticed browning of the two connectors on micro-switch by door-interlock?. Switch (marked Omron V-15G-3C25, 15amp, 125-250VAC). Inside points showed bad arcing, hence the heat to char the connector insulation. Bypassing the switch, the microwave works fine--Eureka!--which will do until replacement. Found Grainger has (w/o min quantity of 100), for $2.21 (2KRF8)--hope to pick up one Monday. Switch is kept in place by two plastic "toothed" fingers--should pop right back in if dimensions prove to be identical.
