SOURCE: JBL Subwoofer - Intermittent operation

Sometimes bad caps show a lifting or rounding of the top of the cap, sometimes this top will split from heat and pressure and sometimes it will not show any sign of damage but will be dry inside and its capacitance value will drop to a very low value. Replace the big power supply caps and test again. Get the same size, value and voltage rating. You can go higher on voltage rating and a bit on value. Getting a similar size or something that will fit in the same space is important also.

JBL PRX 625 Speaker. How can we fix the overheating in the speaker please?

Question edited for clarity.

Undo the screws at the back and look for a cooling fan. There is something in the centre that looks like one. Or contact JBL direct and put in a warranty claim. The overheating issue seems well documented. Although you shouldn't have to, you could easily cut a vent hole with filter at the base and a 4" case fan above the amplifier to pull out the hot air. 3 x 500 watt inside is bound to create heat.

I can offer you the circuit of the PRX535, which I think must have its similarity, I pass the link to download it
I hope you can solve the problem

No more subs in jbl prx-512m

First check the speaker with a multimeter.

If it is OK, then check/repair the Class D amp that drives the speaker,

up to the input stage.

There are board part numbers printed on the PCB and some are

available on line.

Have a tech to guide you ,should you feel to Diy.

No more subs in jbl prx-512m

Pull the input plate off of the back, there are usually light bulbs in there that act as fuses

I have a pair of jbl 512m speakers one is louder than the other one but it works

Make sure your audio interconnecting cables are XLR or TRS balanced lines. Use of TS cables similar to guitar cables with only two conductors (only the tip and the sleeve) reduce the gain 6 DB and contribute to hum and noise.
