Question about Epson Perfection 3170 Flatbed Scanner
In the middle of scanning a bunch of color negatives, all of a sudden my Epson Perfection 3170 stopped scanning them correctly. I get a blurry mess in the preview image that looks sort of like a stack of negatives all on top of one another (OK, not the best description). I've tried turning the scanner on and off, changing settings, etc., but nothing seems to get it back to normal. It scans positive images just fine at the same time. Any ideas?

I would not think Norton is the problem but one can never be sure - Uninstall Norton to prove one way or the other Then come back

Make sure the rectangular slots at either end of the film frame are not obstructed or covered in any way. When I attempted to scan color negatives I had the same darkness problem in the scanned image. When I cleared those rectangular slots, everything was fine. I hope this helps.

yes this option is inclussive with your epson scan program, learn to play with the different modes of the scanner ex: professional, home mode etc. usually these modes have these options.
