Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My screen on my dell gx620 goes off when booting but I can get in in safe mode?

Hello

It sounds like you have a corrupted Video Driver. Safe Mode uses defaulted video drivers that are in the operating system and are not specific to your video driver.

Boot into Safe Mode, go into Device Manager and UNINSTALL the video card from the PC (this is removing the info about the video card - DO NOT REMOVE the actual card from the PC).

Go to Control Panel and uninstall any video drivers or programs that are associated with your video card. There are two video card options for your Dell - an ATI and an Intel. If you see any ATI programs, go ahead and uninstall them as they may be corrupted as well.

Reboot the computer normally and it should boot correctly but with a very poor looking display. Go to the dell web site and download the drivers and install them. This step will likely require a reboot.

Every time my computer downloads updates the sound quits working

This is a fairly common problem, in particular with older machines.
Perhaps ones that have OEM sound cards (like Dell, HP, etc) that might be more or slightly different then the common retail versions.
(The same can happen with similar OEM video cards too).

What happens is that Windows Update incorrectly thinks it found a better sound driver for you. And will probably install it automatically for you if you chose the "Express" setting at the update web screen.
Instead run the "Custom" option and only install the important/urgent updates but don't check the "Hardware" update for the sound card.

To get your old sound card working again you might have to uninstall the sound driver that the update installed previously.
Go to "Control Pannel", "Add or Remove Programs" and check the box "Show Updates".
Find the sound driver and uninstall it.

If this still doesn't fix the problem go to the Computer manufacture's web site and down load the latest/last official sound card driver for your machine.
Some times this is complicated as a particular model can have more then one sound card offering.
If this is the case, download all of them.
Install the driver. If you get a message about "unsupported sound card" or similar, then try one of the other drivers (assuming there were multiple choices).

Hopefully you will be hearing sweet music again..

Sound problem

This is a common fault when installing vista. Go to the website for the makers of your motherboard and download a vista firmware upgrade. If your motherboard is more than about 3 years old it may not be able to upgrade it!

No audio on my Compaq Presario SR5030NX desktop, Windows Vista os

I don't think your new sound card was the problem, I think when you un installed the realtek program you inadvertently un-installed the drivers that run the network card.

Try installing your soundcard again with the software that came with it. Leave the realtek drivers as they are. You can disable the on-board sound in the bios and this should not affect your network card. If all is well after you install the soundcard and you have sound and can access the net etc.. then leave the settings in the bios as it is.

I hope this helps

I removed my sound device out of the add and remove programs, now I need to find out how to re download it.

try this , Right click my computer and select properties, hardware, device manager and look for the ?mark about sound device or audio and remove or uninstall it. After uninstalled click action and scan hardware changes. After scanning if the windows found the driver of your sound card it's install automatically but if they cannot find the driver you need to look the model of your sound card in search in the net to download.
