The rear swich turns on, the front switch turns green, then yellow, the blinks red and beeps three times. Thats all it dos it won't start. It doesn't matter what game it's the same for all. I think it's the hard drive or power supply?

I have a similar problem. It started in the middle of playing Disgaea 3. But now it won't even give me 30 seconds before shutting itself down. It won't eject the disc either.

What else is happening?

What game is it? Is it only this game?

Well I know its the PS3. But what game is doing this? Does the PS3 do it with any other game? You have to be more specific with your question.

Ps3 turns on then turns off and beeps three times

Sounds like a power supply issue. Unless it is showing any other colours after the green light. Red would be ylod which means a phone call to Sony. Try a new power supply and see if that fixes it.

My Sony PS3 will beep three times and shut down on its own shortly after it is turned on, any idea what it is?

It sounds like the "yellow light of death". After beeping three times does it flash to a yellow light at all? If so your hard drive is no longer good and will either a. need to be replaced by a professional, or b. buy a new ps3.

It is what we all fear on the ps3.

If there is no yellow light, the ps3 is probably just doing a hard shutdown because something is freezing. a few things you can try are. 1. put in a different game, loading that game may be whats causing it to freeze. 2. do the fan test to make sure its not overheating

My son has a psp 3 and call of duty modern warefare 2 his data keeps getting corrupted. what do we do?

You may have a corrupt system file. With the system off, press and hold the power button on the front of the unit until it beeps three times. Take your finger off the power button and press and hold it again until it beeps two times and then three times in rapid succession. Connect your PS3 controller to the unit via a USB cable and select option two on the menu that will come up.

If this doesn't solve the problem, call Sony at 800-345-SONY for more help and they will walk you through more steps.

I turn on the playstation and then it beeps and turns off again

One common error that many PS3 players experience at some time is the beeping error that some call the "three beeps of death". What happens with this error is the PS3 will beep three times in short succession, and then suddenly shut down. Sometimes the unit will restart and play normally after about ten minutes, while for others, it will refuse to turn on at all.
If the three beeps error has happened to you, you are likely wondering if this a serious problem, needing to be sent in for repairs, or whether it is a problem that can be fixed at home. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer for this question because there are potentially multiple causes of the three beep error. If you are lucky, you may only experience this error once or on rare occasions and you may just choose to ignore the problem and deal with the rare shut downs that may occur, as unpredictable as they are.
However, if the three beep error happens repeatedly, you have a more serious issue that is going to need some proper troubleshooting and repairs.
One of the most simple fixes for the three beeps of death problem involves resetting the PS3 hard drive. In other cases, however, the problem may be the result of dirt and dust building up inside the unit, causing it to overheat. By properly cleaning your unit both internally and externally, you may be able to resolve the problem. In the most serious cases, however, you may be facing a motherboard issue that is in need of professional repair or replacement.

Why is my Playstation 3 120g acting up after only 5 months? It works fine when you put the first game in but after it runs for a little while and you try to put in another game it will not read the disk?...

I Dont think its down to overheating..Unless of course you are on it way too much..

i would reccomend sending it to sony (might set your wallet back 150) however its better in the long run..

if you dont wana send it in. try holding the power button for a full cycle.
then keep holding until you hear the three beeps.. will sound a little something like this...beep...........beep beep... then let it go.

connect controller to usb and select option 3....

hope this helps..

worked on my 1TB ps3

PS3 wont stay on

Your PS3 may be overheating. Check the exhaust of the ps3 where the hot air comes out for any excessive dust. If you have a 60GB PS3, you can blow them out by turning off the PS3 by the back switch and then turning it on using the back switch with you finger on the eject button. The PS3 should beep 3 times and your fans should go at full tilt for about 30sec to 1 min.
