Question about Projection Televisions

3 Answers

HITACHI P50H401. Installed in Feb08 using non-HD satellite input with acceptable performance. In Aug08, we noticed abrupt deterioration of color performance in that greens and yellows are "blooming"/"bleeding" and generally showing up in areas where they don't belong. We have gone through full range of options in video menu with no affect. Is there an objective performance test we can use to fully define the problem? Is there a problem? We think so because we were happy before August.

Your plasma TV is fairly new, I would suggest to contact the manufacturers to fix it under warranty and since you have done video adjustments already and nothing has changed in the performance of it, there is not much you can do at this point.

How do I make my 57F500 HD

If you have the HD input on the jack panel in the rear of the set which will be the component input, then you will get HD, but no where near 720p as most lcd's and plasmas get. You also will have to be on satellite or an HD cable box.

Is my Hitachi 60V500A tv digital ready for local tv? or do I have buy one of those digital convertor boxes.

You do need a separate HD Receiver, HD Satellite, and or HD Cable Box to receive HD. It only has a Standard NTSC Tuner built in.
I hope this helps,

Need a digital hd tuner for 53udx10b

You have to use a Satellite HD box or a Cable Co. HD box. Your set did not come with a ATSC/QAM tuner for digital reception. Your have to use the RGB component inputs in the rear of the set.

Receiving HD from Dishnetwork

Hi. You will love the dish. I have enjoyed it in my home for a number of years. I like the HDMI cable because it is the best quality and simple to install, one cable does it all. If you don't have one yet get it at walmart where it is about half the cost of other retailers. All satellite TV is HD without you doing anything special. So yes, it will do HD from whatever input you choose.

Hitachi 53UDX10B HD Converter

In the USA, "HD Ready" refers to any display that is capable of accepting and displaying a high-definition signal at either 720p, 1080i or 1080p using a component video or digital input, and does not have a built-in HD-capable tuner.

With that said your unit can display HD but does not have a HD-capable turner. You will have to have a converter box to obtain this for over the air channels. If you have any other source that can give you a HD singal (cable some DVD's, blu ray)your unit can display it. Hope this info help's.

May be one of two things. With a standard av input (called Composite Video and usually colored Yellow) then the signal must be 480i, Standard Definition with (i)nterlace. If it is higher, say 1080i (another interlace signal but High Definition), 480p (Standard Definition in (p)rogressive mode), or 720p (another HD in progressive).

Try reseting the Dish receiver by unplugging it for 15 seconds.

It could be that the "White Uniformity" needs to be adjusted which would probably require an authorized service technican to perform. Otherwise, the problem may lay within the light engine itself, also requiring a tech.

Darkening screen (or of programs?)

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.
