Question about Sanyo ECJ-B35S Micom 3.5-Cup Rice Cooker

Replacing clock battery on the ecj-b35s

According to the manual, the battery is integrated into the main body and requires taking it to a dealer for replacement. Now how hard is it to replace a battery anyway.

I am just not sure exactly where it's located. Assume it's under the front plate where the menu and button are located since that's the logical place.

Has anyone replaced one of these batteries and has some good pointers before I start taking things apart! I would rather do it right the first time rather than have to search around for it by taking different thing off looking for it.

Any help, suggestions would be appreciated

This web site has a photos on how to open the Sanyo rice cooker:

The solution shown is to install an external battery pack,
but in the battery looks like a 3 volt Panasonic CR-2354/HFN .

(picture is too blurred to read a part number,
so you should check your own cooker). carries this part
(listed as P274-ND) for $1.90 plus $7.50 UPS ground service
(only carrier authorized to ship lithium batteries)

I used this battery to repair my William Sonoma SR-MK10S
Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker which is the same as a
NationalSR-MM10N. I found the Panasonic repair manual at

Desolder the battery soldered to the pcb.If the connecting pins are welded to the battery, take is apart by force. Then solder the pins back to the pcb. then place the new battery.

Take it apart and find the part number from the battery. Make sure if it's a soldered battery, your replacement has solderable tabs built in.

    1. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the face plate. Remove face plate.
    2. Remove the three screws holding the clock assembly to the cooker body. One screw is visible at the top and the other two are hidden under the tabs on the plastic cover. Lift the tabs and remove these screws.
    3. Remove the 3 mounting bolts at the bottom of the cooker. Pull the bottom section off the cooker.
    4. Pull out the clock assembly. The battery is on the circuit board.

I couldn't pull out the bottom section. Where is it separate? Any tricks I can apply?

It is frustrating because I can see the battery from a hole in the plastic panel, but I can't reach it!

After removing the positive and negative tabs from the dead battery, simply solder the correct tab to a Renata battery holder(614-SMTU2450N-LP). Purchase 3 volt lith battery(658-CR2450) and insert into holder. Both parts are available at Mposer Electronics. Next battery replacement is a snap-out-old, snap-in-new. Of course you'll have to disassemble/reassemble the faceplate, bottom, inner control panel, and two(one metal/one plastic) plates. It takes about 1/2 hour for this process, and you now can replace batteries easily when required.

I have s Sanyo ECJ-S35S rice cooker does not heat up. When I press Start/Cook button it keep flashing and light does not stay on. Any idea what I can do?

A rice cooker that doesn't cook anymore usually requires a thermal cutoff replaced. They act like a fuse and look like a resister. Look underneath it is crimped to one of the leads but perhaps underneath some braided insulation. Purchase another cutoff at an electronics components store (not radioshack). If there is not a rating on it try 185 degrees celcius.

Sanyo ECJ-D100S Micom 10-Cup Rice Cooker stop working. Just use couple hours ago before it stop working. It is 5, 6 years old, looks like there's no power, only clock. All buttons do not response...

I have the same problem today. I'm lucky to find this thread and fix the problem. The cooker have two broken wires. The good news is that one wire is black and the other is yellow. If both were yellow, I might have to figure out which one connects to which.

Thank you all for the questions and answers,
