Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
I have a model # 8P4844c101 48 inch tv, My son was playing his Xbox the other night and it made a spark and went off I am unable to turn it back on now. It smells like soeting burnt up.
The way these rear projections work is simple. It's just backlit by a bulb. Sometimes, these bulbs will literally blow up. Any TV repair shop can replace the bulbs in these rather easily. Heck, most shops will actually send a guy out to do the job as well if you're not up to the repair yourself.
I will warn you, there are a lot of very sensitive components inside the television and I don't recommend changing the bulb yourself unless you are sure about taking the risk of damaging the TV further.
I'd definitely have it checked out by a TV repair man. :) Like I said, it's probably just the bulb as they do go bad from time to time.
