A friend of mine told me that after a certain period of time (different for everyone depending on how long it is used daily) the ipod battery just won't hold the charge as long. Google "ipod repairs NYC" and you will get a list of authorized repair centers that replace the battery , the screen, the click wheel, the main circuit board, the headphone jack, etc.

All you can really do is make sure the iPod is fully charged before watching.  Video files require more system reosurces than music files, so it is very possible that it will run down in a couple of hours or less. There are no longer-lasting batteries that can be used with this particular mp3 player.

I want to know which generation is the Ipod 30G model A1136, thanks

There are two 5th gen iPods, A1136 model is the older 2005 model, not the later 2006 model.

Here is Apples link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth2 which will show the differences, but not by model number. The reason I know this model number is the first 5th gen 2005 is because I have one. Also older 2005 should have '2005' engraved on rear.

Try to reset the ipod

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step

Apple iPod Model A1136, 30 GB.

First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.

Software required for writing into video ipod

iPod only support MP4, M4V formats, I think you may need software to convert videos. I prefer to use Aimersoft iPod Converter Suite for conversion of either DVDs or videos on your computer. You can find it on:
http://www.aimersoft.com/ipod-converter-suite.html
Hope it helps.
