I have a compaq nc6000 (an older laptop) and I have the same problem! I shut down the other day and the computer said it was going to "install updates and shut down" and the display has been huge for the past two days. I tried the solution mentioned above and now the display is teeny, which is better than it being huge! I can live with this unless you have a better idea.

    Thanks a bunch!

NOT a Dell Inspiron One 19 Service Manual, but may help you in disassembling yours, to replace the LCD screen,

With this style, as most all-in-one desktops; you have to remove the Stand, Back Cover, etc, to get to the Display Bezel. Then screws are removed around the Display Bezel, and access to the LCD screen.

You NEED to wear an ESD wrist strap, and connect it to a good ground source. Average cost is $3 to $6.

How to solve screen reasolation problem on my dell inspiron 1564 laptop?

Right click on the desktop of your pc and choose properties or personalize. Click on the tab that says display or screen resolution. Slide up or down to choose higher or lower screen resolution. The pc will change the view and give you a few seconds to look at it and make sure it is what you want. When you find one you like, save and close.

How to fix a black screen on my dell inspiron 6000 laptop, it loads up then turn back black, i close down the laptop top and open it up again it works for a sec. then turns back black, what shall i do?

There is a cable between the system board and the LCD. It may be loose or it may be bad. If you open the screen partially to a 45 degree angle, does it stay on? If it does, then it is the cable.

Here is the service manual for your laptop:

Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Thanks, Joe

The issue could be one of 2 things. The image inverter or the LCD. From the description it could be either.

Both can be found here:

The inverter is fairly cheap ($20 to $50) the LCD around $150.

I am using DELL Inspiron 6000 laptop.Suddenly half of the screen of my laptop is showing multi color lines. I am able to view only the upper half of the screen. Please suggest me what needs to be done

attach an external monitor to be certain the video card is ok,
Re-seat the video card cable to the lcd screen,
dell site explains how to remove top and keyboard.

your real issue may be the cable itself or the lcd screen.
