Have you try to use headphone or other speaker except on the built-in speaker of your LCD?, if the sound still not working then re-install the sound driver of your motherboard.
Thanks

I have lost my speakers on the monitor. Using Microsoft XP, they were working but now they are not. Did some driver updates then lost the sound on the monitor. Checking the control panel indicates that...

Sounds like you've lost audio output from the sound card. Unplug the audio cable from the sound card and plug in a set of ear buds or headphones. If you don't get any sound your driver's not working. Try reinstalling the old driver.

The sound used to work with this monitor until a sound system was hooked up. The sound systeme is now gone. How do I get the sound in the monitor working again?

To get the sound on the monitor working again, you will have to disconnect the sound system from the back of the computer, and connect the monitor sound cable to the back of the computer. Alternatively, you can get an audio splitter and plug both of them in at the same time. Look for the cable with the green end on it, not the mouse, but the audio cable.

Can not get the sound to work on the monitor and everything is plugged in.

I'am assuming your working on a Windows XP platform.

Go to Control Panel - Sound and audio devices - audio tab - and then in the first section "Sound Playback" you choose your multimedia monitor - apply and it should work.

if your multimedia monitor does not appear in the list, it means you have to install driver for the multimedia monitor so it should come with cd that you need to install in that case.

No sound from my HP w1907 monitor

This is a failure in the audio section of the control circuit. Your cable could be at fault or the circuit itself. Try switching cables or try you monitor on a different sound source. if this does not work then it is the monitors sound circuits. This requires a trip to a service center for servicing. Hope this helps.

I have acer al1917w A monitor but no sound

There is no sound driver, they are speakers, they work off of the audio output jack on the back of your PC, on the motherboard. If you have the sound drivers installed for the motherboard, and no sound, then you have plugged the monitor audio cable into the wrong jack on the PC, or you have the settings wrong just as MIKE said above.

Use hdmi out on 2408 display

No, won't work as teh monitor does not have sound capabilities. However, this will work if you have some sound input into the monitor, like if you use the HDMI (which includes sound) to send signals to the monitor, instead of the VGA / DVI connector. (All sound output on a system is from the sound card on the system only, monitor sound options are usually just an extension of the same)
