Geforce 6800 GT 256mb PCI-E DEAD

I'm having the same problem with my AGP version of that video card, and am also running Windows XP.
How can I use the Add Hardware wizard when I can't even boot up the machine with my new video card? I uninstalled the previous one, but the computer still just hangs at bootup.

This is a great card, that requires you to plug in a power plug from your power supply to the card directly. If you have already done this, short your CMOS pins to reset your bios. Let me know how it works.

I am having the same problem. The DVI port sounds dead and gone. Get a new card.

My Primary DVI port died when running a new LCD w/Dsub converter. Only Seconday port is working. The primary is receiving a signal (see size change in blackness during boot). How can I get Primary DVI back or is my 6800 PCI-e now half-dead for good?

If their is still a problem your graphics card has not been set as the default display device. keep the graphics card plugged in, restart the computer and as soon as it starts up go into (BIOS) which is the delete key on most computers. The bios screen will appear as a light/dark blue. Scroll through the menu's and find where it say: AGP port selected or something femilliar and change it until it comes up with PCI-E (meaning PCI express) and click done and save and exit, the computer will then automatically restart and the graphics card should start up and display colours on screen.
