First, it is not a netbook. It is a notebook. The Aspire netbook is a Chromebook. The Aspire notebook you refer to has an XP operating system.

IOBit.com has driver booster that will scan, identify, download, and install drivers. There's a free version and a paid version. This is assuming you're using Windows 7 or higher.

SOURCE: Resource Conflict - PCI Network Controller in Slot 02

Hi akwasi,

Try pressing F2 and look in the bios for a setting that says "Load Bios defaults". If you have any PCMCI cards inserted please remove them first and try a re-boot.

Have you added any new components on the PCI bus? If you have you need to make sure that the BIOS is allowed to reconfigure the interrupts. The device in slot 03 is conflicting with the integrated network controller hosted on the PCI bus. Remove the device in slot 3 and all should be well.

Most BIOS manufacturers allow the PC/Laptop to manage it's own interrupts, so ensure the device you've inserted allows for this. If it uses fixed interrupts this might be your problem.

A good manual should details the BIOS setting you can adjust in order to get the PCI controller happy again and allow the machine to POST correctly.

Regards,

Spare head 2

SOURCE: installing anti virus onto aspire one net book

Hi, the Acer Aspire is a Linux operating system based computer. It does not run Microsoft windows in the same way that Apple computers run OSX, not windows. The antivirus programs you mention are for windows computers. On the bright side, running Linux you really DON'T need virus protection Linux is inherently far more secure than windows.

Code 28 can not be install on my pc

error code 28, means a Driver Error,

the solution is to go to the device manager,

1.) start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager,
2.) locate a device with a yellow highlight
3.) right click it and select update , follow the onscreen instructions

or
reinstall the driver using the driver cd. that came with it.

if that fails you need to go to the manufactures website for that particular device , locate the driver and download it, then install it. PS if its on the mainboard you can go to the OEM system builder you have like dell or hp , if you dont have and oem system go to the mainboad manufactures web site, Biostar and MSI.

Hello, my wireless is not showing on my computer and when i go on device manager on my computer it has a question mark on ethernet controller and say erro code 28, how can i fix this?

Do your Wireless Device (PCI or USB unit) comes with an installation CD? If so, use the CD to install the software/drivers.(Instead of using the Windows wizard). Remove any previous installation before reinstalling with the CD.

Resit your device to a different USB port or PCI slot. If the drivers/software are properly installed, windows will detect and installed the device correctly.

Cause of the Code 28 Error (In general)
A Code 28 error is caused by a missing driver for that particular piece of hardware. There are several of reasons that a driver might not be installed for a device but your troubleshooting of the problem will be the same no matter the root cause.

Resolution
1.Restart your computer if you haven't done so already.

There is always the slim chance that the Code 28 error you're seeing in Device Manager was caused by a fluke with Device Manager or in your BIOS. If that's the case, a reboot might fix the Code 28.

2.Did you install a device or make a change in Device Manager just before you noticed the Code 28? If so, it's very possible that the change you made caused the Code 28 error.

Undo the change, restart your PC, and then check again for the Code 28 error.

Depending on the changes you made, some solutions might include:
•Remove or reconfigure the newly installed device.
•Roll back the driver to the version prior to your update.
•Use System Restore to undo recent Device Manager changes.

3.Update the drivers for the device. Installing the latest manufacturer supplied drivers for a device with the Code 28 error is the most likely solution to the problem.

Important: Make sure you install the drivers for the correct operating system. Example, if you're using Windows 7 32-bit, install the drivers designed for that specific version of Windows. Most Code 28 errors are caused by updating or install the wrong drivers for a device.

4.Update your OS to latest Windows service pack. Microsoft regularly releases service packs and other patches for their operating systems, one of which may contain a fix for the cause of the Code 28 error.

**Note: Certain service packs for Windows Vista and Windows 2000 have contained specific fixes for some instances of the Code 28 error in Device Manager.

5.Replace the hardware. As a last resort, you may need to replace the hardware that has the Code 28 error.

It's also possible that the device is not compatible with this version of Windows. You can check the Windows HCL to be sure.

Note: If you still think there is still a software/operating system component to this Code 28 error, you could try a repair install of Windows. If that doesn't work, try a clean install of Windows. Not recommend doing either of those more drastic options before you try replacing the hardware, but you may have to if you're out of other options.

Hope it helps.

Audio and video device won't start I get a code 10 error. Tried re-installing drivers from disks (motherboard and original drivers disk), downloaded drivers from the manufacturer and checked that BIOS...

How to Fix a Code 10 Error
A Code 10 error usually occurs due to:
  • Missing device driver
  • Malfunctioning device driver
  • Incomplete device driver files
If the device due to which the error has occurred contains the valueFailReasonString in its hardware key, then this string is displayed as an error message. Otherwise, the device displays the following error message:
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 10)
Most of the time, you can resolve this error by updating the device driver for the faulty device. To update the driver, select the Systemoption from the Control Panel. In the System Properties dialog box, select the Hardware tab, and then select the Device Managerbutton. Scroll through the Device Manager window and identify the faulty hardware device. Right-click on this device and then select theUpdate Driver command. Next, follow the screen instructions to update the driver of the selected device.
Causes of System Errors
System Errors Usually Occur due to:
  • Device driver conflicts
  • Corrupt or damaged software files
  • Malfunctioning hardware
  • Corrupt or damaged system registry
  • Virus or spyware infection
Steps to Prevent System Errors
With a little vigilance and extra precaution you can easily prevent most system errors. Some of the tasks that you can perform to prevent system errors are listed below:
  • Keep your operating system, device drivers, and software applications updated with the latest hot fixes, security releases, and updates.
  • Run regular antivirus and anti spyware scans to keep your PC free from harmful and disastrous malware. Always keep these software updated with the latest security releases so that your system is always protected against malware infections.
  • Avoid opening attachments of unsolicited emails and visiting dubious websites.
  • Do not download freeware and shareware from websites whose authenticity you aren’t sure of.
  • Be very careful while downloading ActiveX controls from various websites. ActiveX controls provide their master with complete control over your system and therefore, a malicious ActiveX control can cause severe damage to your system and may also enable a hacker to steal your personal information.
  • Last but not least, perform regular registry maintenance to ensure that your registry is free from errors. 90% of all system errors are connected to the system registry in one way or another. You can easily perform registry maintenance with the help of a registry cleaner such as Ccleaner/Regine. These softwares will provide you with a simple-to-use graphical interface and enable you to scan and clean registry errors in just a few mouse clicks.
It is a very good idea if you run a registry cleaner using Ccleaner/Tuneup/Regine etc...
