Re: sony 32 " tv
The impending failure of the main power supply.
It isn't dead yet but will likely grow even worse and finally will not turn on at all unless a probably small, cheap part (electrolytic capacitor) isn't located and replaced.
You can probably verify this by causing the room temp to swing some like up and down by 10 degrees F. This part gets fussy about temp. when getting flaky.
You might be able to simply pull the plug overnight and see a difference in how it acts since all modern sets aren't really completely 'off' unless the AC is absent.
If this changes the set's behavior, then the likely problem above is present.

I have a Sony Trinitron 32 color tv KV 2168MTJ (quite old - 10 yrs old), and the standby light blinks exactly 200 times (just over 3 mins) before it turns on. Once it is on, it works perfectly. What's wrong with it and how can i fix it?
The 4 blinks indicate a vertical deflection problem. Either the connections on the legs of the vertical IC are bad or the IC is defective. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I'll provide more details and instructions.
On Sony TV's they monitor the current drain on all three electron guns Red Green and Blue. Until all are somewhat equal it will keep the CRT blank. As the set ages it means that it might flash a few times until the cathodes are good and warmed up.
