What do i do when my ac adapter from my xbox 360 turns red

You can try to Reset the AC adapter by following steps below.

1. Unplug the xbox 360 AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the system and from the wall outlet or power strip).

2. After you've waited a full 2 minutes, plug the AC adapter back in on both ends and check to see if the power light comes on.

If this doesn't work it's probably fried from the power surge.

if your are getting red lights, search for rrod on xbox or if its not that then its a faulty ac adapter

If you are getting a red light on the A/C adapter then your adapter has gone bad and you need to get a new one.

HI you did not mention is you are able to use the unit even tho the led turns red. If not then the unit is drawing to much current and the power supply is shutting down. Or the power supply is faulty, If you can and know someone with a 360 system try to borrow theirs and see which part of the system is faulty if you know his is good and the same thing happens, or take yours to his house and try, but if same results then the 360 is at fault.

This can actually happen quit a bit but it sounds to me like the usb jack may be dieing or not producing enough power. This can be caused if for instance you use wired controllers. Have you tried using the front usb ports.

contact xbox customer support for possible replacement, just in case of u left the powersupply to cool down for few hours and didn work.

red light either means, powersupply overheating or powersupply faulty

this could be the case if you need to replace the ac adapter its called a figer of eight mains lead, but the problem could be something Else if you have lots of plugs on one socket this could case a problem with a short surge ruining to the xbox and popping the red button out try using the box on one power point on its own with nothing Else even if this means running an extension cable from the hallway or kitchen, if it pops again then look at the mains lead. if it does not pop is ur power point (plug/s where you have the xbox pluged in). i hope this help cheers

if you purchased the xbox within 90 days, then they can have your power supply replaced
if not you need to buy a new one

Try moving everything to a different room on a different electrical circuit (as in electric panel outside your house). You might have too much load on that circuit for the plugs in that room. You could try unplugging everything except tv and xbox too.

check the light on the box. if it has no light no power is getting to the box. if its red then it could be a xbox problem. yellow is standby and green the xbox is turned on.
