How do I tell how old my kenmore dryer is?

What exactly is this 'loud noise'? Is it a constant grinding or rumble sound that changes with drum speed or is is an occasional thumping, banging noise as the drum speeds up or slows down? A grinding or rumble is often a drum bearing and Thumping is commonly the 'suspension' the drum rides in to stop it 'walking across the room or shaking itself to pieces as it goes into high spin speeds. Your machine's age will only affect you if it is a very old machine and parts are difficult to find.

Kenmore 600 Series Gas Dryer, about 2 years old. Makes a loud scraping or rumbling sound as drum turns, not constant but in a cycle, as if off balance. I checked to be sure it is level. What are the likely...

Hi,
It is normal for the dryer to make sound due to the high velocity of air moving through the dryer drum and exhaust system.
A clicking noise may be the timer advancing.
Check the load for objects such as coins, nails, etc. Remove promptly from dryer.
It is normal to hear the dryer gas valve or heating element cycle on and off during the drying cycle.
The dryer should be level and installed on a solid floor.

Good Luck and have a nice day.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Kenmore dryer making rumbling noises

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication. Check the belt condition for wear. Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt. Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. I will include these two websites for parts and further help: http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
