Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Help. Please, TV won't come on.

When I push the power button the light flashes, the TV Chirps and goes off, It then repeats this over and over until the power cord is unplugged. I need to know what parts to buy to make this repair , where I can buy them and if they are plug in parts or if they will have to be soldered to one of the boards. Thanks Bassnut_22

The chirping is more like a cricket and is 17 chips at 10 seconds. There is no smoke or smell. Sounds like its coming from the bottom right side of the tv (looking from the back) and the only light that comes on is the light in the power switch.

If I purchase the convergence amps (7044 and 7045) will I be able to tell where they go if I don't have a schematic for my 51PW9303?

    Replace the defective Convergence
Amps (7044 and 7045) on Small Signal Module.

When the Convergence Ampa go out the set willmake a chirping sound and the set will not come on.Also the HVG (5904) 312226832865 could be defective also that will be the only 2 reasons for the set not working.

There are no instrutions on replacing the baord it is easy just make sure the set is unpluuged. Put it together the same way you will take it out.If you came do a computer this should be a piece of cake.

This sounds like the same problem that I'm having, could it be the convergence Amps? Not doubting your solution just wondered if there was any chance that this could be it. Thanks Bassnut_22 Work Queue --> Have the same problem? --> I have the same problem -->I have the same problem.

Hello bassnut_22,

This sounds like a power supply problem. 9 times out of 10 you are dealing with soldered components. Now for the bad news, you are not going to solve this problem by just getting the parts that you need as easy as you think, any number of things can be wrong with tis TV. First I would check the Horizontal Output Transistor to see if it is shorted to ground (check the collector in reference to ground), also I would advise checking the Integrated High Voltage Transformer (voltage output test, resistance test, capacitance test and ring test). The tests of the IHVT will tell you if the transformer is bad and in need of replacement. These are the first checks you will need to do.

Thank you,

I hope this Helps,

    Hello bassnut_22,

This could be a factor, in that the amps could be shorted out as opposed to open. However I would suspect that before your tv went out you would have experienced the typical rainbow wave problem that is associated with the convergence amps going bad. That is why I am hesitant about blanket statements without troubleshooting a problem. That's why I always say to check the circuits out first by using a schematic and a multimeter. Yes the amps could be the problem, if they are effecting the power supply's ability to start the TV due to activating the shutdown circuit. However I would also check the HV power supply for damage, since that is the more likely scenario.

    I hope this helps,

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

Sony kv-32fs13 chirps and flashes

Hello 0279737,

This problem is caused by a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor. I would suggest that you have this TV checked by a qualified TV technician. This type of problem requires dealing with dangerous voltages, and repair should only be attempted by a trained technician.

I hope this helps
