If you want to change the routers ip address follow the below steps

  1. Log into the router's admin console. (Often http://192.168.1.1/)
  2. Release the IP address. (Method varies by router manufacturer)
  3. Turn off router, ethernet hubs/switches, and the cable/DSL modem.
  4. Leave off overnight.
  5. Turn everything back on.
If you are using a cable/DSL modem and a router, you may wish to connect your computer directly to the cable/DSL modem. Please note that this could significantly impact your system security. This allows your ISP's DHCP to issue you a new (hopefully changed) IP address based of the (hardware) MAC address of your computer's ethernet card.

You can check your external ip address at Ip-Details.com

Your IP address is assigned (leased) to you from your internet service provider. With that being said, you could possibly call them and ask to release your old IP address and have them assign a new one. If you happen to have a static IP address assigned from your ISP you can call them as well and ask to have your IP address changed too. It would be up to them to change it though.

You could try releasing and renewing your ip address from your web based settings on your router. No guarantees with this method though as your ISP will probably try to re assign your old number right back to you. Another thing you could try would be unplugging your modem overnight and try plugging it in the morning and see if that works for you. Again, no guarantees with this method either.

Why is my IP address automatically blocked... I have never posted anything on there.... Just SHOP on there... This just started

I am sure there is a better person out there to help you but if "they" are blocking you then you may need to contact them, your IP could have been used in some scam, as a very guarded oldie that place looks to be a great playground for hackers and scammers.
It may be worth checking your device for any nasties, also settings may have been changed in it so you are not recognised.
Thats my knowledge limit sorry to say........

How to block lan IP

IP filtering is a method used to block computers on an internal network from accessing the Internet. This is often used on critical machines on the network, such as servers. It blocks users from accessing the Internet to protect these machines from malware. You can filter IP addresses on your router using the administrator console provided by the router's manufacturer. Once the block is set up, each user machine listed in the filter settings will no longer be able to access the Internet.

Open your web browser and type in the IP address for your router. For most default settings, the IP for the router is 192.168.1.1. Enter your admin username and password. If you have not set them up, try leaving the username black and the typing "admin" for the password. Click the "Security" tab at the top of the window. This opens a new console screen. Within this screen, click the "Filter" link. A list of text boxes is shown where you enter the IP addresses you want to filter. Enter a range of IP addresses you want to block. You can enter one IP address or several. Click the "Save Settings" button. Hope this helps.

Can't access modem from desktop

If your DSL works on PPPOE then you need to setup PPPOE on the 2wire router with the Complete Username and the PAssword for the PPPOW connection, if your DSL works on a Local IP address like 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.1 then first check the gateway address of the 2wire Router, if it's in the same IP address range like the DSL Modem like 192.168.1.x the you need to change the Local IP address of the router from 192.168.1.x to 192.168.2.x that should get you up and running with the DSL Modem.

I have a 2wire 1000-100030-000 Ethernet (Non USB) gaming adapter and I do not have the installer cd nor the default IP address of the device. I have spent many hours trying to set it up, but I can't find...

Hi lcardent,

Since you have tried to find the ip address even using ip scanner without success, I guess there could be two possibilities.

1. The default ip address of most 2 wire routers is 192.168.1.254. So, the default ip address of 2 wire gaming adapter must be 192.168.1.x, where x could be any number, which we need to figure out. (Tip: You could assign a static ip to your computer, say 192.168.1.20. Hardwire your computer to gaming adapter. Reset the gaming adapter for about 30 secs. Then try to use ip scanner and check the ip address for the gaming adapter. This may help, if your gaming adapter is locked out due to firmware issues.

2. The second possibility I could think of is that the 2 wire gaming adapter might have been designed as a dhcp client only. If this is the case, you could hardwire your gaming adapter to your router. Then find the ip address of your gaming adapter from the dhcp client table (from the router's web interface).

Please feel free to provide your feedback, and I would be glad to offer further assistance.

Also, please rate the solution, if it helps.

Thank you.

2 Pc's with same IP

AT either desktop or laptop:

[Start]
[Run]
[cmd]
A dark "DOS" windows will appear
At the prompt, type: ipconfig
press [ENTER]
Note the "IP Address" (probably 192.168.1.2)
type: ipconfig /renew
press [ENTER]
Note the IP Address
If it has changed, then you are ok. Type: exit and press [ENTER]
If it did not change, then try this on the other computer.

If that didn't change either, the go to the Control Panel
[Network Settings]
Find the wireless or wired network adapter and Right-Click
Choose "Prpoerties"
In the Properties window, double-click "IP Address"
See the IP Address assigned? change the last digit by one number.
Example: if the IP Address is 192.168.1.2 then change to 192.168.1.3

[OK] [OK][OK]

It should work now...

Disable internet access

Access your router Setup page
Open internet explorer go to http://192.168.1.1 (default) username: admin (default) password: "leave it blank" (default)
Go to Security go to Filter
if you know that Ipaddress of the computer you want to block for example 192.168.1.10
You can create up to five different IP Address Range filters   Users who have  filtered  IP addresses will not be able  to  access the  Internet at all   If you only want to filter one  IP  address instead of a range of IP addresses, enter the same  value into both fields  For instance, if you wish to filter the  PC with  the  IP  address of 192 168 1 5, enter 5  into both  fields on one line: 192 168 1 5 ~ 192 168 1 5

if you know the MAC address of the computer click the Edit MAC Filter Setting and input the MAC address you want to block.
blocking by MAC address is the most effective solution to block a computer... while blocking by ip address will be easily bypass by changing the ip add of the pc

then saved your settings and reboot..

RE: My posted. Connecting DSL/Router to DIR-628 internet router

Installing a router to work as the second one on a home networkrequires special configuration. Do the following on the second routerto ensure it (and the devices attached) function properly:1. Connect as local device or bridge - If connecting the second router via Ethernet cable, plug it into one of the LAN ports on the first router. If connecting the second router wirelessly, ensure the second router is set for client mode.Note that some home wireless routers do not support client mode; thesemust be connected by cable. Check your router documentation for detailson its client mode configuration support.

2. Check / change IP address - Most home network routers use a default IP addresssetting. Often, these default IP addresses will not work in a tworouter environment. Check the second router's IP address value andreset it if necessary to work within the valid address range of thefirst router (and to not conflict with any other device on the network).

3. Disable DHCP- To avoid IP address conflicts between all of the devices on the homenetwork, only one of your two routers should assign addresses via DHCP. All mainstream routers provide an option to disable DHCP as part of the router's configuration screens.

(My netgear router supports client mode. The 2wire supports bridged and router mode. My 2wire is the main router. I set up my netgear using my laptop. Once you change the address on the router.. You will only be able to directly access through the main router to the 2701.)

Configure your 2701 IP address to a static address in the 192.168.2.1 range and diable DHCP. Only 1 router can run the DHCP service. To disable Dhcp on the 2701.... log on to 2701> click on home network>advanced settings>uncheck enable DHCP>Next section is Public routed subinterface...Check enable and Aout Firewall Open>Input your main router address and mask>save config..

This worked with the Netgear router.. May not with your router. Good Luck! Hope this helps!
