When turning on the ps3, from the day before of flawless play, the unit powered up, the t.v. blinked but then nothing. turned everything off after making sure the game was completely dust and fingerprint free, i powered everything back up and nothing. hooked it to a different t.v. set using only white red and yellow leads as on the first t.v. and again nothing. used an air compressor and blew all dust out and removed the hard drive (size 40) and continued to blow for approx 7-10 minutes till no dust was noticed. plugged everything back in, turned on, held power button down about 7 seconds, the t.v. once again blinked as if going to play and nothing. i can hear the game spinning in the console, just nothing coming out.....help
Hello. There are a few causes for this. I will list acouple solutions for you.
1. Reset the Video Output Settings. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings. Once you turn it back on, it should work fine.
2. Make sure the TV is on the correct seting. i.e. Video 1, Video 2, etc.
3. If option 1 does not work call Sony because the video out chip has blown or come unsoldered.

You need to turn off the system with the "hard" button in the back of the unit, when you switch it back on hold the power button down for 15 secs, this should reset your vid settings.
Hi...I am sorry to say that I had this exact problem. It ended up being the upper and lower panel drives. I contacted Hitachi and even though my unit was out of warranty, they agree to pay for parts. I paid for labor myself, and it cost me $199.95.

I look all over the net but could't find anything, until i found a site that said they could show me how to fix any problem with my ps3.
