I don't know if the remote has to be programmed or what. I was trying to change channels on my friends RCA 52 inch and hit the sata button now it doesn't work. He said he had the same problem last year . He called a repairman and he fixed it in about 30 second. Is it something that you can tell me how to fix?

Most tv's can access the menu from buttons on the front of the tv. Once in the menu, the channel up/down select what you want and the vol+/- do the adjusting or setting. As for hooking up a dvd, you can go into one of the video inputs and select that input when you want to view the dvd. Usually connected with an RCA video patch cord with the yellow, red and white ends.
Remove the remote(or take out the batteries)from the room to be sure it's not sending out signals. If that dosn't work the problem is likely that the buttons on the front key pad are sending out signals -the front key pad board can be unplugged and you can still use the remote. let me know if you have further questions
Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.
When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.
It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.
