There may be a few problems here

  • check to make sure there are no there phone that cordless and are dead
  • place all back on the charger
  • unhook all phones and use a LAN line phone
  • plug it into every one of the jacks in the house
  • try to see if you are getting a busy sound from all of wall jacks
  • go ouside or in the bestment find the phone box that comes in to the house and make
sure that all the connections are on the terminal
  • If you have more that 1 phone line there then one of the phone jacks coming from the wall may
have came lose. Just remove the wall jack cover and make sure that all the wires are
connected.
Note if you only have one phone line then there shouild only be 2 wires on the phone jack connecteed
this usally green and red but it can be diferent depending on how it is wired. The wires have a low current so unless your phone rings while you are touching them you will not feel anything (it is a small zap but safe if the phone happens to ring)

Thank You

Hi,

Assuming that the system/set-up has worked before and initially, pls try to:

  • determine if you have Internet access;
  • reset your modem (backup config);
  • reset your router (backup config);
  • check port forwarding requirement and/or router settings.
If this is a new set-up:
  • pls post back your modem and/or router brand & model.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

If you asked for line phone sets, then..Please disconnect all handsets and let rest phone line once, now connect handsets one by one and confirm which one is bad or hold phone line so you get busy line tone.
If you are talking about cordless phones, power off base unit and let phone line reset. now power up it and check handsets one by one.

You may have a problem with your telephone lines.

use another known working phone a hook it up to your telephone line and if you still have a busy signal then it is in your phone.

if you do have a dial tone and you can use the phone that you just hook up, then the problem is in your phone.

hook again the problematic phone and you can use it the first time and after you hang up, busy tone appears, then you can not call nor receive calls.

the problem is in the phone, there is a transistor that supposed to disconnect the line after use but it won't.

i have encounter one unit before.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Have you subscribed for the voice mail. If your voice mail with the provider(vonage) is full, you may have this issue.

  • Sameer Kashyap Sep 14, 2008

No if the last caller does not hang up the call is suppose to get disconnected within 2 minutes. It must be a bad line. You must get a free line test done by the service provider. They have equipments to do the same and can do it sitting in their office itself.

Constant busy signal

Has this constant busy signal just started or has it come recently? If you've got a space receiver/handset use it to replace what you've got connected at present. If fault persists then it's not the unit that's at fault but the line's faulty and needs reporting to the service provider. If the fault went away when you changed the unit then you know that the problem lies with the handset/receiver or whatever you call it. Decide what to do in this case-probably get a better handset.

Why made phone early now cant just get busy signals?

Sounds like your phone or line is now short circuit and is holding the line so it appears busy to incoming callers. Try disconnecting the pnone and line right up to the incoming point of your house to find the problem.

Why do our handsets show busy with an incoming call and don't allow us to answer a call?

We recommend you test the main base unit with a different telephone cord on a different telephone jack.

Trouble with group hunt

You can program call waiting tone, pick up the handset and dial 7311# to each extension so whenever a second calls comes in you will be recieving a tone.

No dial tone. Cannot call/recieve.

Have you tried placing the handsets in the base unit to resync them? (not the axillary charger)

Have you confirmed that the phone jack and wire are still working? (e.g. plug in a known-good corded phone and make sure the signal is still good)

Post back with the "Add comment" button on the right, and we'll see what we can do to get it fixed.

I have the DECT1580 cordless phone with 4 handsets. Lately, people cannot hear me when I call them. Sometimes it cuts in and out. It's happening with more than one of the handsets. Help.

Weak or Hard to Hear Audio (From the Uniden Manual)
If the caller’s voice sounds weak or soft, the signal might be blocked by large metal objects or walls; you might also
be too far from the base, or the handset’s battery may be weak.
  1. Try adjusting the volume of the earpiece (see page 36) or the audio tone
  2. Try moving around while you’re on a call or moving closer to the base to see if the sound gets louder.
  3. Make sure the handset’s battery is fully charged.

All 4 handsets note "busy" and there is a sound like a busy signal. What gives

CLICK HERE for your owners manual in PDF format.
CLICK HERE for the troubleshooting section.

"BUSY" in the display means -

*The called handset is in use.

*The handset you are calling is too far from the base unit.

*There is no handset registered to the base unit matching the extension number you entered.

*Other units are in use and the system is busy. Try again later.

Remove the batteries form each handset.
Replace them one at a time and check for proper operation.
One may have become unregistered when a battery died - or power outage.

See page 35 of the manual to un-register and re-register them to the base.

sounds to me that the phone set is shorted when you pick up the reciever it shorts the line but if the phone is already shorted this is why people are getting the busy signal
