Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook

Sound/maybe other? Hi, When I try to listen to songs on my windows media player, the audio is really choppy like a scratched CD almost. The same thing happens when I try to listen to a song clip online or watch a youtube video or something. The computer has also been running a little slow, not really wanting to open programs right away. I tried a disc cleanup, a defrag of the c drive, and even deleting a bunch of downloaded songs, but nothing seems to help. I have the latest (free) version of AVG and Spybot-search and destroy on my computer so I don't know if it's a virus or anything like that. Any suggestions?

Choppy sound

If all media players are closed, Open the Control Panel> Sounds> open, click on configure, test. Any Problem? Now when you say "choppy sound" The audio is on what, using what? With limited info it's difficult to give a informed solution. FOR INSTANCE, I was watching a movie/music, online video, youtube....etc. with (your software) and the sound was choppy. Or, I was on IE and watching a Video, music, etc. Lets say you open Itunes and play a song, sound is choppy?

A quick fix for CDs that skip or sound scratchy

I was told to use toothpaste - and it worked! Rub toothpaste on your scratched CD - over the entire thing. Then rub off with dry cloth/rag til smooth. Though it looks like all the paste has come off, it has actually filled in some of the micro scratches. Try to play cd - it has worked for me numerous times.
Also, on these CDs - or any old ones - upload into your computer (the computer doesnt pick up as many scratches as a basic cd player). When finished uploading (this could be called "ripping" with Windows Media Player or "importing" on ITunes, your computer now has all songs. Put in blank disc and "burn" onto a new CD. Its like it was brand new again!

What is MP3?

MP3 is the prefered method for music downloads.

MP3 is a file format on which music is created for CD downloads which can be played either, on a computer or an MP3 player (like the one on your cell phone.)

Your computer uses pre-installed software called a media player to play the MP3 songs on the CD download. If you have a Windows based PC for example (Windows XP, Vista etc.) when you click on the download - Windows Media Player will open and automatically start playing the songs.

So, you're safe to download the music in MP3 format. It will be of good sound quality.

Windows Vista Premium. Trying to rip a cd to my computer. Unable to do so. CD plays fine if i play music from the cd itself. Tried Itunes 1st. Rips about 12 secs of audio for each song. Says complete....

maybe the windows has this security issues. coz from my point of view windows vista is dedicated on security. so that's why you cannot rip most of the songs very well.

Choppy audio windows vista

If audio is choppy it indicates the processor is "busy" and it is buffering due to some other process using up resources and keeping the machine busy so it cannot stream the audio properly. Possibly check the running processes and see which ones have high cpu usage and turn them off, then try it. It may also be a media player issue - have you tried updating the media player or reinstalling it - sometimes installing a service pack will cause a problem with the actual media player - reinstalling them usually fixes that problem.

Why is all my audio choppy when im listening to something? anytime im listening wether its music or on you tube the audio is all choppy and distorted.

Hello,

How much memory do you have in your pc? Sometimes if you are running windows and media player, your memory is streched if you don't have alot on board. I recommend going to 2GB if you are running Vista.

Good Luck

My songs wont add onto my sandisk sansa mp3 player

What format are the songs you're not able to hear? It's possible that the songs are not in a format the Sansa can play.

Also, you can navigate your Sansa like a removable drive. Try going to "My Computer" and looking to see what's actually on the drive.
