Question about Heaters
I need to take the furnace off the wall as there is a crack in the foundation behind the furnace and the water is leaking in. How do I disconnect the power from the furnace? How do I tell if the gas lever is off.My gas line looks like an L shaped out of the furnace up the wall? Does the lever go vertical for off?

Power should be shut off at the breaker. Check with a meter before disassembling wires. The gas line gas valve will be at 90 degrees of the gas line when off, however to make sure, try and start the unit with the gas valve at 90 degrees. Remove the front cover of the unit and look for mounting bolts. From the outside, remove the vent screws. The unit should lift off its mounting bracket and slide toward you.
