ATT uses POP and SMTP servers. The only address you need is mail.att.net (put it for both incoming and outgoing).

Hotmail not receiving. Enable IMAP How?

Windows Live Mail is the desktop email application of Office Live, introduced with Windows 7. Windows Live Mail replaces Outlook Express in Windows XP and Windows Mail in Windows Vista. You can use Windows Live Mail to access most free email accounts, such as Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail, as well as those offered by Internet service providers. You can also set up your IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) account to use Windows Live Mail.

Open the Office Live email application. Click "Start," select "Programs" or "All Programs" and select "Windows Live Mail" from the "Windows Live Folder." Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Accounts" to open the "Accounts" dialog box. If you do not see thetoolbar, press the "Alt" key to display it. Click the "Add" button, select "Email Account" and click "Next." Type in the complete IMAP email address, such as "name@emailprovider.com" into the "Email Address." Enter the password for that account in the "Password" box. Enter the name you want displayed to email recipients in the "Display Name" box. Select the "Manually Configure Server Settings for Email" check box and click "Next." Select "IMAP" in the "My Incoming Mail Server Is" list. Enter "imap.ispname.com" into the "Incoming Server" box, replacing "ispname" with the name of your email provider. Type "smtp.ispname.com" into the "Outgoing Server" box, replacing "ispname" with the name of your email provider. Click "Next" and then click "Finish." Hope this helps.

Hi,
When a person is using the ISP (Internet Service Provider) for the e-mail, and that provider is changed, the e-mail goes with the provider. One cannot have a sbc e-mail account without sbc being the carrier.
One could contact sbc to find out if they could forward those unread messages to the ATT e-mail account.
Hot mail from Microsoft or G mail from google are supported by the Internet Browser, so those accounts will transfer from any different ISP.

Does not install on 64bit systems

Please read the System Requirements Carefully.
60-day trial does not include technical support and requires the following:
  • PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed.
  • Windows Vista® with 1 GB RAM, Windows® XP with 256 MB RAM, Windows Server® 2008 with 512 MB RAM or Windows Server 2003 with 256 MB RAM -> (64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Server excluded); service packs for operating systems recommended.
  • Certain features require Internet Explorer®. If not present, Internet Explorer will be installed but will not displace your primary browser.
  • Available hard-disk space: 1.8 GB (some users may require up to an extra 300 MB).
  • For installation of software: DVD drive or high speed Internet access.
  • Super VGA (1024 x 768) or higher resolution monitor.
  • Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse®, or a compatible pointing device.
Thats the System Requirements for the Trial Version. I am not sure whether you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7. You cannot install this on WINDOWS XP/Windows Server 2003 which have 64BIT Architecture.
Same applies for the 2009 Version as well.
You can update it to work with Windows 7 from here. You can update it to work with Windows Vista from here. Search by the Name under Software category.
Feel free to contact me if you need further instructions. Please be kind enough to Rate the answer as well with a comment if it solved your issue.
Thanks for contacting Fixya!

I have recieved an email from Yahoo about closing my account and I want to know if it might be part of a scam or virus

Hello,
You can always verify the authenticity of the email by checking for logo'd emblems or my checking the bottom of the email for copyright information. People who are running scams generally do not include this type of information and give themselves away like this.
Otherwise, the only time that an email server provider will ever suggest they're closing down your account is if it has been inactive for quite a while (2 months+) or if you have breached their terms of service. If that is the case though, they will explicitly explain this in the email.
DO NOT follow any of the links in the email or type in any of your account information, no server provider will ever get you to fill in any fields or reply to an email with your information. They hold your account, they know your information already.
Have a great night!

You have to go to the website of your internet provider and find the email server information. Then you open outlook express, click on account setup and enter the server information.

I can do this for you for a fee of $14.95. My email address is buffalonymann@yahoo.com. You can create a free email account at yahoo (web based) and contact me by email

What is the POP 3 address to send email using instead of using wi

You simple CANNOT. Windows Mail no longer supports the HTTP servers used by Yahoo! and other web-based e-mail providers. Windows Mail does not permit the use a Web-based (HTTP) e-mail account on a computer that is running Windows Vista.
For an alternative, use Windows Live Mail instead of Windows Mail

loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); Windows Live Mail is an e-mail program that you install on your computer. Windows Live Mail stores messages on your computer. This means that you can access, read, and compose e-mail messages even when you are not connected to the Internet.

Windows Live Mail works with popular Web-based e-mail services such as Hotmail, AOL mail, Google mail, and Yahoo! mail. Windows Live Mail is built to automatically configure many popular e-mail services.

Email set up problems

from the data you have given, me, it sounds like you are using Either Outlook, or the bundled Windows Mail service.
What is happening, is that an email your program is trying to send, an email with "test" in the subject line, but is unable to because it cannot connect to the server. looking at the string, I see several problems. make sure your settings are configured a mentioned below:
  • Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
  • Outgoing (SMTP) Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
  • Account Name/Login Name: your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
  • Email Address: your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)
If this doesn't resolve your problem, refer to this page for more information. (Note: if you do not subscribe and pay in to a "Yahoo Plus" plan, this could also pose a problem, as Yahoo does not allow you to use third-party email programs with their "free" service, as they like to restrict it to webmail only. If you want a free email service that *does* however, I strongly suggest you check out google's Gmail service [what I use])

How yahoo people are maintainig their servers

In stead of explaining how powerful their servers are. I would like you to understand how do they build such powerful server.
Google, yahoo and microsoft are giants of the internet these days. millions of people hit their servers every day. they build the solutions around DNS, NLBs, Failover clusters, high speed disk arrays and so on. The internal communications happen over a high speed network.
