Volume Knob busted

I"ve had my player for under a year, and all of a sudden the volume on/off know stopped working. If I wiggle it, it cuts in and out, and volume is not adjustable.
Is the volume knob easy/inexpensive to fix?

The problom with this is the volume on/off control is of low quality and does go bad. The part was discontinued in 2009 and is no longer avalible

syntoms include: no power on or off , no sound or volume control of any kind

solution: there is only one solution and it is to replace the switch, however because of the small size of the original switch it is very hard to find a suitable replacement.

My pioneer receiver's remote control all of a sudden stopped working and the volume is out of control.

The motor on the volume knob could have gone... or the IR blaster or receiver. Do all the other elements work? Like channel, song skip, etc?

Boston Acoustics Solo volume knob stopped working altogether. Turning it either way does nothing, no volume number appears. Soft reset doesn't fix it. Any thoughts?

I don't know if you will see this or not, your post was 2 years ago. I have the same problem. My volume is stuck at 24. I have tried soft-reset........among other things. One thread says to turn volume down to 00 then press for 10 seconds. I have no control over the volume, so, yeah, thanks for that fix. I found that I could get the volume down by unplugging it,plugging it back in and sometimes the volume would pop up and I could turn it down one notch. I did it till I got to 00.............thought AHA! My problem is solved! No such luck. When I press the volume at 00 and try to hold it for 10 seconds, after 3-5 seconds it just pops back to the station frequency. I also thought that if I could get into the guts and spray the volume control with tuner-cleaner, it might help. No go.......after taking off the cover, I found a bunch of REALLY delicate looking electrical tapes and wires..........I was scared I would destroy something in an attempt to reach the volume control. I hate to trash this radio, the sound is awesome...............great design on the speaker, NASTY design on the controls. I'd be VERY interested to know if anyone, anywhere, has found a fix for this. I think maybe my next step will be hitting it with a hammer.

Volume not function.

You need to be a bit clearer on the exact nature of the issue.
Please include if the unit was working and suddenly stopped producing sound (ie - speaker output fuse blew) or if you relocated the unit, and after hooking it back up, you aren't getting any sound (ie - not hooked up right) or if the volume knob isn't changing the readout for the volume level (logic or knob broken) - and also include the make and model of WHAT the volume knob is attached to (ie - Yamaha receiver model X)

Logitech S500 Volume Knob Broken

The simplest thing to try is some compressed air directed to the knob. This would clear out any dust or dirt that may be obstructing the knob. I am not sure what you mean by power cut so I am shooting in the dark here. If you mean a power surge that caused the volume to quit working then I would suggest an external volume control such as http://www.amazon.com/Koss-155954-VC20-Volume-Control/dp/B00001P4XH/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-2257004-6895258?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194009359&sr=8-2
