Why is door locked and will not self-clean?

Hey Kimberly, thank you for your inquiry!
I understand that the door on your Frigidaire range is locked and it will not start a self-clean cycle, it is also displaying an error code of "F91". The "F91" error code means that the door has exceeded maximum oven door unlock time. This means you could be experiencing an issue with your door latch, control panel, or a miscommunication within the range. To clear out a miscommunication within your range you need to disconnect power from it for at least ten minutes. I hope that this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Frididaire electric stove the oven has stopped working

Good Afternoon Friend, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

I understand you are experiencing an issue with the oven of your Frigidaire range. May I have your model number please? You can normally locate the serial tag (which provides your model number) in the storage drawer, on the right side. Also, think about what may have happened prior to this occurrence. For instance, did you notice any strange functions or any other error codes prior to this issue? Do the burners/elements work? With this information I can assist you better in pinpointing the problem.

Meanwhile, let's try resetting your range by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn your range on. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, could you please advise me if the issue continues or provides an error code. Thank you! -Z

How do I season the griddle that came with my new gas stove?

This is taken verbatim from page 11 of my Frigidaire Gallery range:
"Seasoning, using and caring for the griddle Before first use: -Wash griddle in hot soapy water. Rinse and dry completely. -Apply a thin coat of vegetable oil to the entire surface (front and back of griddle). -Preheat your oven to 350*F. Place the griddle on the upper rack in your oven. -Bake griddle for 1 hour at 350*F, then turn oven OFF and let cool before removing. -The surface may have a tacky feel to it from the seasoning process. If desired, wash the griddle in hot soapy water, rinse well, and dry completely.
Using the griddle: Remove the center burner grate and carefully replace with the griddle (some models). Preheat the griddle for 5 minutes on medium to medium low setting. Slow preheat ensures even heat distribution during the cooking process. DO NOT preheat the griddle on HI setting. Preheating on HI may warp the griddle and prevent even heat distribution.
After each use: -To prevent rusting, store in a dry place and keep uncovered. -After each use, clean with a stiff brush and hot water only. -Do not clean griddle in the dishwasher. -Dry immediately and apply a light coating of vegetable oil to griddle before storing.

Kenmore Electric Stove - Gourmet Edition

Thanks for the numbers.
The 628 in the model# tells us it was built by Frigidaire. The date code in the serial number is less clear because it is a different code than their current serial number designations that have been in use since the mid '80's. The style of the stove makes me think late '70's, I would guess '77 or '78 from the first 3 digits of the serial number.
The thermostat should be easy to check. If the broil function in the large oven works, the thermostat should be ok. It is a simple switch that should read closed across the contacts when you turn it to any temp setting when the oven is cool.

The power for the oven will also go through the selector switch which routes the power to different components depending on the setting.
The power also goes through switches in the clock that allow the timed bake and self clean functions to work.
If there is no wiring diagram in the stove, you will probably need one to diagnose the problem if the thermostat checks ok. I would suggest getting one while it is still available in case you need it in the future.
Once you have found out exactly which part you need, you should be able to use the Frigidaire part number from the parts list on the Sears site to track down a replacement part through a local appliance parts dealer. You may have to take the part to them to try to visually match up a replacement. Thermostats and selector switches are usually pretty generic in their operation between manufacturers, the problem lies in finding one that will mount to your control panel properly and that your knob will fit so that you can keep the same uniform look along your control panel.
Please post back with what you find out or if you have any questions.
Thanks/Mike
