Question about Maytag Neptune MAH6500A Front Load Washer
I have another problem(has been nothing but problems since day 1) with my maytag neptune washing machine. It was working O.K. for about a year since the last failue and yesterday when we went to push start button to beging wash cycle, water begins to fill and machine and light shut down within 5 -10 seconds. I have tried this multiple times on various different cycle settings around the dial and it does the same thing every time no matter where you put the dial. This thing is a peice of junk and has been since day 1 as I said,It was extremely expensive when we bought it but my wife in her infinate wisdom had to have it ! I suspect the module board behind the panal is most likley the problem however that is just a guess based on the fact it has been working o.k. for the last year, this problem just began out of knowhere yesterday ! Any Help ???? email@example.com

First thing to check is the filter,
open the bottom pane (3 screws on bottom front lip)
in the cent is a large removable filter ,
set a pan or rags under it ,there will be water.
clean out any debris an be sure the pump impellers move freely.
let me know if that fixes it.

If it has worked for a year and your able to choose different cycles with the same result. It seems to functions with one common element failing. If the control unit cant detect how full the machine is with water it will shut down. Sounds like a water problem steming from your pressure switch. Not sure which model you have but usually it will sit on the water pump or under the console with a clear hose if under the console. If so a quick test of attaching an ohm meter set on continuity then blowing lightly to see if under pressure the switch reacts by closing if it doesnt then the switch is bad.

take off the panel below the door three screws and look for the tech sheet located on the right side. It will coach yoou thru the codes and common problems. Sounds like it may be the door swithch does it lock when you push the start? If not the door switch my guess would be a machine control. 877-262-1479 parts.

I'm not sure which model that you have, but I will venture to guess that it is a Maytag MAH5500BWW. If that is the model you have, I would say that your problem is with the motor/motor control panel, this has been re-engineered with a replacement. You can check all functions of your machine by placing it in service mode.To do this, turn machine on then press the delicates and heavy soil key for 3 seconds, then press spin to do a quick spin test. If it doesn't spin, then you may have that faulty motor design. In your machine behind the touchpanel on top there should be a tech sheet for your machine which tells you how to do this and how to check every operation of the machine. Replacing motor and control board is a very easy fix and if you contact Maytag (now whirlpool) they will give you a very nice price on all replacement parts for your machine. Hope its not the bearing!
