This is usually caused by a defective LCD module or a defective flex cable that connects the LCD to the camera. I recommend replacing them both at the same time. The LCD / Touchscreen module is no longer available from Sony at an economic price for this Model. However, I have a limited supply of them in stock as well as an aftermarket supplier with hundreds of them.

My microphone records the sounds on my computer and plays them directly back through the speakers. How can I eliminate the microphone playback and have someone else hear me on something such as skype?

double click on the volume on the taskbar (System Tray - Next to clock) and Controls for Playback will open. If you can't see Microphone Volume here, click Options- Properties - and in Playback Volume list - Select Microphone by ticking against it and press OK. You will see the Microphone Volume on screen. Just tick inside the mute box of Microphone. Now the audio from Microphone will not play but you can still record it.

Toshiba VCR. It records OK but playback is black, white shaky

What do you mean by "records OK"? It sounds to me like you are not getting a signal to record. I had this problem before, as well. There are two things I recommend you try. The first is that (if you are trying to record over-the-air tv, you will need a digital television converter box connected directly to the vcr. If you already have one and are sure that it is connected correctly, you may also try an RF modulator. When I got my new vcr, it wouldn't work at first. I eventually found out that I would need an RF modulator in order for it to work on my tv. I hope these suggestions help. Good luck! Sincerely, Der Strom

Sony has a recall on some of these ccd imager problems. Contact Sony to see if your model applies, but it sounds like an imager problem on your pal format camcorder. Larry

Distorted Viewfinder Only In PIcture Mode

Yes, You are correct, it does not seem to be problem with the CCD. Insted it seems to be with shutter control or apparture control mechanism of the camera. Normaly there is one single cable carring signal to the shutter blade mechanism and the diaphram control. If this cable is damaged it shows the same symptoms as you have described in your mail. Get in touch with an expert camera repairer.
