Apple's iPod touch, a portable music player with a touchscreen display, is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery that provides up to 40 hours of audio playback and up to seven hours of video playback when fully charged. To conserve power, the iPod touch locks by default after a minute of not being used. If you want to use your iPod touch after it locks, you will need to unlock it. You might need to type a password, depending on how you've configured the device.
Press the "Home" button, located below the screen, or press the silver "Sleep/Wake" switch located at the top of the device. Swipe a finger across the "Slide to Unlock" slider on the screen. The iPod touch unlocks. Press the "Home" button or press the "Sleep/Wake" switch when you have enabled passcode protection on your iPod, then swipe a finger across the "Slide to Unlock" slider on the screen. The "Enter a Passcode" message appears. Type in your passcode, and then tap "OK." The iPod touch unlocks. Forgot Your Password b> Connect the iPod Touch to your computer using the USB cable. Wait for iTunes to open and sync with your computer. Eject your iPod Touch from the computer by clicking the "Eject" icon beside the iPod's entry in the "Devices" section of iTunes. Disconnect your iPod Touch from the USB cable. Your iPod Touch will be turned on and will be unlocked. Tap the "General" menu on the iPod Touch. Tap "Passcode Lock," and then tap either "Turn Passcode Off" or "Change Passcode." If you tap "Change Passcode," you can then enter a new passcode. Hope it helps
If you have a third gen ipod nano and you locked the screen lock and forgot the code, well what you do is you hook your ipod to your PC,laptop ect. and disconnect it. It should be unlocked. But if you lock it you have to do that over again to unlock it.
Do you mean your iPod was locked with a code and you want to unlocked it right?
Unfortunately if that's the case the only way to resolve this problem is to reset the player, that means it will be restored to its factory settings removing all data(song,files) that was stored to the player. To restore the player here are the steps;
-Make sure that you have iTunes install on your computer. -Open iTunes and the connect your player either via USB or Firewire. -Wait for you player(iPod) to appear on the source panel in iTunes. -Select your iPod and the source panel on iTunes and you will see your players information on the summary window. -Click the restore button.

Yes, the iPod will show that it is charging on its screen. Disconnecting without ejecting can cause data loss of whatever is stored on the iPod Ejecting is when you remove the iPod from the desktop by dragging its icon to the trash or clicking on the down arrow next to the iPods name from within iTunes.
If you use the library computer, usually a Windows based OS, you'll need to click on the iPod icon from the task tray on the lower right of the screen. You can right click to select the remove option
