Touchpad hi,i have a dell inspiron 6000 i recently had a new hard drive fitted and now im not able to use the touch pad on my laptop ,could you tell me how to enable the touchpad please? many thanks. helen185

Please install touch pad drivers from by entering the service tag... that shouls automatically enable the touch pad.

My laptop touchpad is not working dell inspiron n5010

you will have to reinstall the drivers and the sofware in your Dell. I think since the touch pad is not working if you use the cursor keys and proceed to the control panel and try to restore the laptop, then if this will reset to an earlier date, then it will solve the issue.

Follow this link and download and install the touch pad driver. Scroll down to Input Device Drivers, select Dell Driver-Touchpad.

Tap to click does not work dell inspiron 1501

Tap to click is the feature of the touchpad driver. Uninstall any existing touchpad drivers and then restart the computer.
Go to enter the computer service tag and get the drivers for the touchpad from there. Also update the BIOS of your computer to the most recent version. In most cases a part replacement is not needed and the issue should be fixed.

Eratic movement of cursor using touch pad

Sounds like you have a touchpad malfunction. If its an older laptop, I would recommend replacing it. Not worth the hassle of trying to install a new touchpad...

Dell Inspiron 6000 Alps Touchpad not working

Try unistalling the touchpad driver, and reboot. The machine will find the touchpad and reinstall the driver automatically. These have a tenancy to glitch when using an external mouse, and this should clear it up. Let me know.

Touch Pad

In the touchpad settings (Control Panel, Mouse) see if tap to click is enabled, if so uncheck and see if there is any difference. Also try booting in the safe mode, and see if that changes anything (F8 during boot to access safe mode) If no difference, then you'll likely need a new palmrest to fix the touchpad. If the touchpad works normally in the safe mode, try a new touchpad driver from
