I have a rowenta da55 and lost the owners manual. I see where you put the water in. Do you use salt? It gets hot, but no steam.

Get some distilled water, (From any garage, the stuff you put in car batteries) and keep it in a plastic or glass bottle. It mustn't come into cotact with metal. This is best for your steam iron.

Dear Fixya, The iron heats up but there is no steam coming out of my ''Stirella No Problem'' steam iron. Both the lights stay on and the green boiler light goes out and this indicates that the steam is...

This has worked for my SX8040D, but may not be a permanent solution. Fill the reservoir with clean tapwater - not demineralised or softened and not bottled water. Turn on iron and wait 20 minutes. Then try.

My shark steam iron is leaking when ironing

It is quite possible that this is a defect in the shark G1490F... I had the same problem and it was a crack in the water holding tank caused by tightening the two front screws (hidden) that hold the tank to the base... It seemed fine at first but after a full heating it developed a crack where it had been weakened when it was assembled... I suggest returning it or if warranty is up , throw it away and get something else..

Where can I get a new filter for my Domotec steam iron. I bought it from John Lewis but they no longer sell them and werent interested. Thank you

I've got one as well and I'm resigned to keep using it until it just clogs up. I use Britax filtered water in it. I had a Simac Stirella that just jammed open and the repair cost was more than the Domotec! Next time I'll buy a well-known make, but definitely not from John Lewis! Their after sales care on these products is appalling

Will not hold water after dropping

you can take it to a repair place, the screws on the bottom are not designed for the everyday person to open them. a special screwdriver is used. But I do think if it is not holding water the tank has been cracked somewhere. I would be cutting the end of the cord and binning it.

I would recommend a Phillips Steam iron GC4430. It is comfortable to hold and light enough that you hand/wrist/arm doesn't get sore. Price is quite good, under 200. You can also purchase extra warranty on this item.

Tefal proline express steam generator iron needs de scaling

Make a solution of half water and half white vinegar. Fill up your iron and get it good and hot then let it sit a couple hours. flush out and repeat as necessary. Hope you find this helpful. Please give me a fixya rating If this works for you. It works very well as long as it is not completely filled with scale. Once you have it good and clean By a gallon of bottled water at the market and use that for your Iron and you will never have a scale problem again. I learned how to do this 20 years ago from a 80 year old woman from england. If it is really bad you can up the vinegar concentration but do not go higher than 2 cup to 1.

Brown gunge and white deposits keep coming out of the steam holes on the sole plate. We have tried de-scaling but it has had no effect. This iron has had very little use since we bought it about 18 months...

Try filling full-strength white vinegar instead of water. Then allow to steam out on scrap cloth. The white deposits are likely to be calcium. The brown gunge may be rust. When the deposits are minimized, use only distilled or bottled water from then on.
